I can't... I'm really sorry Linx... I'm... I'm just no use to anyone right now...
**Looking up, Amathyst managed to reply between sobs. So far in th past week, she had managed to go from insanely happy, to bored, to melancholic, to happy, to really angry, and now to totally upset. What everyone else must make of her was beyond her at that moment.**

Linx sighed as he heard the sound of clinking manacles behind him. The vermin weren't talking and didn't even seem to be protesting their capture; they'd been subdued thoroughly enough. It didn't hurt that the wall guard took them up to the fort at gunpoint the entire distance and the gates were shut behind them as soon as they entered. The mouse didn't find any of this interesting, though; his mate's sister, and mate once removed, was going through a notably rough spot. He decided to just repeat himself. "Ever think of maternity leave, Ama?"

I can't affored to... I have my work as a seamstress to do and with being an Auxillery as well, I bearly have enough spare after buying needed stuff like food and clothes to put aside for the baby.
**Taking a hankerchief from her pocket and blowing her nose, Amathyst sighed. Her current trend of moodswings wasn't very good for fer feelings, and she was willing to bet that everyone else was getting pretty tied of them.**

"Afford to. You get a leave wage, you know... And you have Archon to support you. Try leaning on that stone pillar of a support for once." Linx, having become used to dealing with beasts that would render a typical beast completely insane, was more or less an endless fountain of patience. He stood and watched Amathyst with concern as she took the handkerchief out. Apparently, these mood swings were more dramatic than he'd expected. "You'd be better off just taking this time off than being on the field; that makes you a liability for both yourself, your comrades and your child."

Really? I... I guess I'm being selfish by being out like this huh?
**Putting the hankercheif away, and whiping her eyes, she sighed once more and nodded.**
I'll go talk to my boss tomorrow then... Get time off sorted.

"I wouldn't call it selfish so much as self-destructive, you're doing nothing to help yourself by being out here. Were you actually... On, uh, wall duty?" It would explain the repeater rifle, but she could have just had that. Linx had no way of knowing. At least all the prisoners were on their way to the compound, and far away from where he had to look at them. Those poor guys... At least they're treated well.

No... Practising, but I sometimes come and sit under the walls... More shaded than on the practise grounds. I'm having to shorten my practising at the moment what with work and being pregnant...
**With a lack of something to distract her, or trigger a sudden moodswing for that matter, Amathyst was calming down again. If nothing set her off, she'd easily return to her normal, cheery self within a few more minutes.**

"Well, no need to stay around here, then. C'mon, this is no place for a future mother like you..." Linx offered a hopeful smile as he gestured to the village, mercifully devoid of the prisoners by that point. They were being escorted a bit briskly, it seemed. "I mean, yeah, you were practicing, I suppose, but there's a lot for you to do that doesn't involve repeaters at this point. I'm pretty happy about that, actually."

I guess...
**Returning the smile with her own, Amathyst stood up and nooded, slinging her weapon properly over her shoulder.**
I do a lot of other stuff too... Running... Fist fighting... All sorts... You know?

"How about giving birth?" Linx gave Amathyst a meaningful look as he started walking in the general direction of the fort. She had a lot ahead of her that didn't have to do with the battlefield in the slightest. Apparently, though, running was... More important. We don't run, we stand our ground.

Not for another few months yet... I'm only what? A month? Two months gone?
**Following on behind, Amathyst started humming something. She couldn't remember when or where she had heard the music, only that it had been stuck in her head for years.**

Linx picked up the music but didn't comment. The melody meant nothing to him and he wasn't going to ask about it. For all he knew, she was making something up. "Not that long, but now that you know? Better start with the changes, Ama. You have a big one ahead. Change, I mean..."

I know... I'm going to be a mother. So no sneeking off to go do other things, I know. I think I'm gonna need mom's help on this though... She should have some good advice for me.
**Taking little note of what was going on around her other than the direction she was going in, Amathyst was content to just follow on behind Linx... And be partially stuck in her own little world too**

Linx eventually set their course on the house. He was walking a bit slower than the guard still walking off. "You know, I hope they took some garrison from elsewhere on the wall, or on the towers or... Something, after we took our soldiers off the wall to go apprehend those vermin. Well, I suppose they did, because those guards shut the gates after us... You know what's happening with the vermin, right?" The compound was one of the newer facets of the fort. It made it a lot more warlike-looking, but in truth was just a way to deal with a problem that had always been around; besides, it was good conversational material.

I don't know much I'm afriad... I've been busy with other stuff like my work as a seamstress.
**Linx may have burst her happy-bubble, but Amathyst wasn't annoyed or angry... In fact, she was actually quite curious as to the Compound... Having spent the past month mostly in the village, she hadn't heard too much about it.**
