Briala breathed in the fresh, heavy scent of the forest, oddly glad to be back in the woods again. She thought she would never want to be outside of the safe fort again, but she found that she missed the freedom and open air. So she had slunk out of the fort (temporarily, of course!) to be in the forest again, her bow in her hand and quiver on her back. She had contemplated bringing her daggers, but she decided to leave them back at the fort, so she definitely would have to go back.
She began to hum a cheery song that she heard who-knows-where, and crept forward, making sure not to brush against any leaves or twigs. She caught sight of a bird ahead, and instantly stopped humming. She snuck closer, trying to reach the bird without it knowing. However, someone behind her stepped on a twig, startling the bird so it took off in the air.
Scowling, Briala spun around, an arrow already resting on the bow. "Well if you're going to be out here, you just as well be quiet!" she snapped, still not seeing the one who had made the noise.

OOC: One more thread, and then I have reached my limit IC: **Another otter emergered out of the woodlands. He said to the otter with the bow, paws up.** Sorry, wasn't paying attention, I'm usually not that loud. **He stopped, when no answer came he continued** Who are you? I'm Aral
OOC: Sorry, I am bad at entering...

Briala slowly lowered her bow, recognizing another otter's voice. Well, that was okay then! "No worries, I'm just a bit jumpy!" she called cheerfully, returning her arrow to her quiver. "I'm Briala. And I was just looking around," she added, glancing around the forest. "You?" She didn't know how often others came out into the forest. She was just bored.

Nice to meet you **He offered his paw and continued** Heh, same here, 'cept I was looking for vermin **He grinned at his own statement**

Briala shook Aral's paw, setting her bow down beside her. "Vermin? Around here? Hmm..." she thought on that for a second. "That could be mildly entertaining," she said, grinning evilly. She enjoyed being able to use her fighting skills...though she never went so far as to kill anyone.
"Do you know the forest very well?" she asked suddenly. "I don't...at all. I just got here." Briala didn't like not knowing an area. That was why she was exploring. Well, that, and to not be bored. Boredom was never fun.

Ya, I've lived, and patrolled here for abit of time. **He chuckled at the vengeful grin, if it could be called that.** Yes, there are vermin around here. Though not as many, thanks to the fort, want to explore with me?

Briala thought for a second. On one hand, she could wander around in an unfamilar forest, alone and with the possible threat of meeting a gang of vermin...or she could wander around in an unfamilar forest with someone who knew the forest. Tough choice.
"Sure," she said cheerfully. She picked up her bow and slung it over her back. "Any plans on where to go?" Briala asked, turning around to look at the strange forest.

Ok **The river otter nodded. He glanced around, taking in his surrondings. There weren't any signs of vermin in the area, he said to her. Let's head to the river? Eh?

"A river!" Briala said enthusiastically. "That sounds good. I love rivers." It was a bit redundant saying that; she had yet to meet an otter who didn't like rivers. Oh well, too late then. "You'll have to lead the way. I didn't even know there was a river." Briala made a face, annoyed with her own ignorance.
*Urgh, sorry it's short =P Dead brain at the mo*

OOC: Mine was pathetic too, don't worry IC: **Aral chuckled at what she said. He turned to the north and headed off that way. He said to her** How can you not now about the river, if your at the fort walls an you look north it flashes up, pretty hard to miss actually. **He smiled as he said this. The sun was tracing through the emerging leaves, it was nice to have spring again**

Briala laughed, skipping off behind Aral. She loved spring; it was nice to fill her lungs with fresh air and run against new, green grass. Plus, it was nice and warm, but not too hot. Perfect weather for the ottermaid.
"Well that's the thing...I've never been on the North walltop," she giggled, answering Aral's comment. "I'm still pretty new here, so I haven't been up on the fort walls that much. Except for at night, and that's at the southern gate." She was excited that there was a river so close by; during the summer, it was always nice to go swimming. Fishing too, if that were an option. "Oh, is there good fishing there?" she asked out loud as the question came to her mind.

**Aral laughed quietly at her statement and replied** Well, then you need to be on wall duty. Yes, the fishing is pretty good, though you have to go a bit upstream to get it. The lower river is pretty messed up from all the ships
OOC: YOUR PRESSURING ME SO IT'S BAD!

*OOC: What pressure =P I gently reminded you to post!*
Briala made a face. "No thank you, night guard was boring enough. Wall duty isn't my thing," she chuckled slightly, bouncing along behind Aral. "Sometime I'll need to go fishing then," she commented, already wondering what kind of fish there would be in the river. Hmm...Dace, and bass...probably a lot of big fish. Fun! Wait a minute... "What ships?" Briala asked suddenly, realizing she didn't know what Aral was talking about. "I thought ships were only in the sea!" Truthfully, she didn't really know. She had never been to the sea. But she had heard that there were giant boats that could travel in the endless amounts of water.

You probably don't have the attention span for Guard duty do you? **He questioned, he then continued**
Otter's fort has a huge dock. Actually right now they are working on a ship with an iron covering.

"Hey, I take offense at that!" Briala protested, though she was starting to grin. It was true though; she could pay attention for about 30 seconds to the unchanging landscape before getting unbelievably bored. When she was on guard duty, she even found herself wishing they would be attacked, just so she would have something to do.
"An iron covering! How would it float then?" Briala asked, sounding astonished. She wasn't looking where she was going, and stumbled slightly on a protruding root. She just managed to catch herself by grabbing a tree branch, but she scraped up her paw. "Ouch! Anyway, wouldn't the iron make the boat too heavy to float?" she continued, undetered by the minor pain.
