"I just aimed too fast." Archon took the CAR off his back and cocked it, chambering a round. He flicked the safety catch to semi while bracing it against his shoulder. "Then let's be quiet."

"I wouldn't worry... I still can't see them. They must be knocking down trees or something." He stroked his whiskers. "I think they're moving around..."

Archon took his finger off the trigger. "I don't think they're that close, we're a fraction of the way to the original rendezvous point. Sure it's even them?"

"No clue. I'm following you, remember?"

"I think we're still pretty far away." Archon resumed walking. "No need to panic yet. Well, I get to, you can't until you shoot me."

Well, well, well... Looks like they DO have some smarts...
**Barely noticing Fishrudder and the others arrive, Raiden continued to watch the camp. Observing the layout of an area often ment the difference between success, and Raiden was determind to succeed.**
Armoury on the left, could be useful, main camp in the middle, grand leader tent in the north, and the slaves pen on the mid-right. I know what I've got to do.
**For the first time, he turned to the others of the group.**
I'm gonna hit the armoury. Chances are that if my children are here, their weapons will be in there. Then I'm storming the pens. The rest of you either cover me from here, or hit the main camp. Understand?
**Not waiting for an answer, Raiden gathered the Kuni's chain from the sword pommel and quietly slipped forwards towards armoury. The one guard dropped without a sound as the Kuni impaled him through the heart. Opening the shed, Raiden entered and imidiatly could see what he was after; All the weapons of his children aside from the Rake sword thrust through the left of his belt. Slinging the Repeater rifle over his back on the sling Amathyst had made for it, he hung the other wepons from his belt before somewhat unsteadilly tottering out under the weight of the equipment. Resolutly, he circled round to the far right and the back of the slave pens. Swinging the repeater forward and reloading it from the one remaining magazine strapped to the side, He vaulted the low fence surrounding the cages. The few guards who saw him were met with bolts before they could run for help.**
Dad! Dad, it's Ama! She's hurt!
**Dispite Lars' words, Raiden was relieved to hear his son's voice and turned to the right. The Kuni flashed once and struck the lock hard enough to snap the wooden pin. Yanking the chained dagger back, he pulled the door open and gazed about inside. Lars was leaning against the back, his sister's head in his lap.**
How is she?
Stable. But not for much longer... They ambushed us after you had left the ditch. We tried to hold them off, but there was too many of them. Sorry to put you...
No need to be sorry. My only regret is not knowing and coming back to help. You did what you could... both of you.
**With that, he crouched in front of his daughter and gently stroked her cheek. On an impulse, he placed all of Ama's weapons behind her before he and Lars faced the door to the cage. The were about a dozen stoats and ferrets comming. The guards Raiden had killed had been found relatively quickly and now the whole camp was on alert.**
You ready to exact vengance, Silversword style?
Blood for blood. That's what you always taught me and Ama. I'm ready.
**Buckleing on the Elbow blades, wraping the chain around his waist and shoulders, and taking his sword back from Raiden, he stood ready.**
Give up mouse. It's madness to fight us.
Madness? No... This. Is. Vengance! Siiiiilversworrrrrrd Ho!
**Like a shot, Raiden struck the assembled vermin, the long blade immidiatly comming into it's own.**
I hope the others are doing better than me.

"Raiden." Archon went back into battle mode. "C'mon, we have to move. Now."

Auric began a slow charge, his roaster in position for the first opportunity. He disliked these trees and the burningdangers they posed, but fortunately, it wasn't summer anymore and it was much cooler in this area. He should be safe, as long as he was careful.
