Pearls of Lutra was mediocre. It didn't have anything that stood out to me (although the whole Sampetra idea was cool, I think it toppled a little easily).

It was a good follow-up to Mariel of Redwall, although at that point I was tired of the good guys winning...

How about Lord Brocktree?

Eh, not my favorite. I don't like the idea of that horde getting so easily smashed, even with joint forces... That's another thing, the whole joining together and fighting the bad guys as one was too perfect to appreciate.

It was all right, but it had that climactic victory again...

It had some good information on Redwall's past, it was all right.

That one was great. Veil's moral ambiguity was a great contrast to the usual stuff.

I hated the redwalers in that book. What do you think of Salamandstron?

Salamandastron had an interesting idea with the dryditch fever, but it didn't seem to do a realistic amount of damage. Other than that it was typical.

It was a bit good for my taste. Ferdy and Coggs had far too lucky a break when they got captured and the victory was too unbalanced. They didn't even explain how a ballista throws stones rather than bolts.
