You all probably know that for years Otter's Fort has had four separate divisions of the Otter's Fort Army, those being River Warriors, Sea Sailors, Land Fighters and Fort Defenders. There has also traditionally been a separate captain for each division. Recently I have been having trouble choosing people to lead each division and I wonder if it's even worth the trouble. So basically I'm asking whether or not you think that the divisions and captains aid roleplaying or if they are not worth the time.
Choice 1: Yes, they are helpful in roleplaying Choice 2: Having captains is useful, but there shouldn't be four different kinds of divisions, rather four army divisions all with the same job Choice 3: We don't need captains Choice 4: We don't need either. Let's not divide the barracks or the officers.
If you have a different thought that you would like to express, please post it. Thanks for voting.
Note: This does not necessarily mean that current captains will lose their officer positions, it just means they will be given more appropriate jobs.

The divisions... They seem to just restrict roleplaying, characters' designations not being suited to the environments they actually RP in. However, officers help with command roles and all, so I'm picking Choice 2.

I agree with Linx. This may sound kinda of dumb, or something like that. BUt say we are going to a battle and we are taking land warriors, since Tasna (Tansa?) isn't too active, I can't ask her to join. Since we would be done by the time she responded. So, if, say, Linx, Tasna (Tansa?) and me were all to be Captains, it would simplify the problem and give the Captains command in a battle, making commands and the like easier. I guess you can tell my choice is number two

I'm sorry... Could you clarify what you just said regarding Tasna? Bit hard to understand...

When she is gone, I can't ask her too join, as she wouldn't be on in time. So we need straight commanders, in other words, commanders of everything. Got it?

Yeah, I see what you're saying, Fishrudder. If Tasna isn't active then that leaves a whole section of the army without a captain, which isn't fair to other captains and other roleplayers. So you both think that there should be general captains, but people shouldn't be assigned to those captains. They will just be general leaders. Am I correct?

That sounds about right. No leaders are assigned a specific body of troops.

Yup exactly, though that might cause conflict between Linx and me (As in our characters) They are the exact opposite, I am traditional and Linx is "Exotic"

Well, Linx never directly commands troops. "Master of Weapons" entails arming them.

But as commander you would have to occasionally, though, I could take the river warriors and you could take the land warriors, it would even out all right...

That wouldn't work... We're not supposed to be dividing troops, remember?

Sorry, what I meant is Land Creatures, that are more adept at non-Amphibious ( ) warfare (Thanks Linx, forgot how to spell)

Amphibious warfare... No need to divide it by species, fights around bodies of water won't be an issue, there's still land to work around.

Yeah, Fishrudder, you can't divide the troops that way. You could both work together. It seems to me that you would balance eachother out in a roleplay and out of character you're both competent. Or what you could do is have Fishrudder be the main leader IC and Linx could deal with some of the OOC stuff.
So basically, no more barracks divisions.
I should probably find more leaders to help you guys out.
