Linx pushed open the double doors and entered the tavern with his usual air of apathy. As was typical for a day like this, the tavern was crammed save one empty table, which he immediately took. On the way over he pulled out a seat for Archon, as well. "C'mon over here, Aldar, no other open seats anyway."

yeah ok. Aldar hurried to where Linx and Archon were, Its kinda funny because we are still wearing armor and a bunch or weapons eh? Well anyway what do you guys want to do know that we are here?

"Get some drinks, I guess..." Linx didn't really care that he still had weapons and armor on him. For one thing, he was used to the extra load, and for another, he was known well enough for it to be reasonably accepted. It didn't hamper him that severely as he rose from his chair, strolled up to the counter and ordered up a pair of... Something pink, strawberry-based and fizzy, and lacking in alcohol. He turned around while these were being made and called out to Aldar. "Hey, Aldar, what do you wanna drink?"

Linx quickly told the bartender he'd like a third one with that, slapped down the corresponding price in coins and took the three glasses. "OK, got it..." The return journey was a bit slower since Linx didn't want to spill their drinks all over the place, so when he finally made it, all he had started with was still there. He distributed two to Aldar and Archon before sitting down with his own. "Stuff is good," Linx remarked, pointing to his glass. "Tastes kinda creamy."

"Working on a semi-automatic sidearm that uses CAR-type ammunition. Progress is slow, to say the least... Oh, and I'm starting preliminary work on a ship. Yes, a ship, with a steel-plated hull, steam-powered engine and cannons everywhere. Not too large, though." The steel-clad... What a cool design. Linx took a swig of his strawberry fizz before continuing. "And Archon's doing some inventing, off the battlefield..."
Archon had been put on the spot, which was something he didn't enjoy that much. Best to just explain it. "Musical instrument over here. Well, lots of musical instruments in one... Drums, cymbals, beaded drum... I'll have to carve a pair of sticks for it." With some help from Amathyst he was designing a combination drum set, a rather strange innovation that would probably take a whole lot of coordination to play. The two main ideas so far were a large, muted drum that could be struck with a pedal-triggered mallet mechanism, and a drum with a number of strings running across the bottom with metal beads all along their length.

Wow nice ideas, I see both of you invent two different types of things. I wouldnt of ever thought of it myself. About the steel ship though, how will you get it to stay on top of the water, wait a second what if you made it able to go under the water?

"That'd require some way to recycle the air, plus, how would it be lit? And how would you change its buoyancy? This ship will have steel plating but the majority of it will still be wooden. There's no way I could even afford for all of it to be steel." Linx swallowed another mouthful of his fizz. The flavor never got old.
"I've pitched in with weapons but it's really not totally my department..." Archon was drinking from his own glass substantially more slowly. "That's more Linx's thing." Man, Linx looks so cool... No matter what he's doing. He just looks... Cool. Yeah.

"Well, I said steel-plated, not steel..." Linx resisted the temptation to just drain his glass. Slow and steady, that was the way to go. "So what about you, Aldar? You doing anything interesting lately?"

"Well..." Archon didn't have to look far for interesting things... In his own life, anyway. "I'm hooked up with Ama now, but I doubt everyone here is, so that only counts for me." It was strange like that. He never really thought that would end up happening but at the same time he had been always wishing that it could, and it did. Now he was seeing two different beasts at the same time, which actually bothered him less than it did in theory. "No, I don't want to hear about Raiden..."
"What? I wasn't even going to say anything about him... Honestly, though, sometimes it's nice to not have any pressing issues. I find that that's not the case very often in my life so when it occurs I do my best to enjoy it." Maybe he and Archon could go for a stroll in the woods, or somewhere equally aesthetically pleasing and devoid of activity. All these things happening lately, he often came up short on free time. Maybe he could use it now that it existed.

"Maybe it's the part where there's a storm..." Linx grinned before taking another sip. "Well, I'm probably gonna go over to the barracks after this and just relax in my room... Archon, you're welcome to follow... No good weather to do anything in." The cumulonimbus clouds hanging ominously above the fort had finally started to dump their contents down onto it. Rain audibly burst against the tavern roof in sheets. "Well, anything outside, at any rate..."
"I don't like it when it's storming..." As if on cue, a bolt of lightning lit up the sky outside and a thunderclap soon followed, but distantly enough to prove that it wasn't actually right on them yet. Archon, upon seeing this, hugged Linx's side, almost involuntarily. Some comfort would be really nice right then, so it was good that said comfort was actually available.
