Everthing was gone from his own home and now Ellich was officially moved in. He missed his old home a lot though, and for the next couple of days would be in a very depressed state. Ellich thought maybe it would be best to get some fresh air. So Ellich walked from his room and started slowly down the stairs.

Linx had just locked the front door after him. The spring evening air had given him a good chill on the way home from work at the shop and the warm air of the house was more than welcome to him now. At first glance, the house appeared to be empty. Nobody's tending the stove?... Probably embers now. He heard someone descending the stairs, though, and decided to go investigate.
It turned out to be Ellich, who he coincidentally had an urge to speak with right then. Unbuckling and removing his gloves before stuffing them in his coat pockets, he walked up to the squirrel with an elated grin. "Hey, Ellich, you're here! It's really good to see you... Been meaning to talk."

"Is that so? Well I guess I have some time to talk." Ellich finished going down the stairs and was now standing next to him. "So... whats up?" Ellich didn't have much energy to his voice, clearly showing his sadness.

"C'mon, you're talking in a tone that makes it sound like I just died or something." Linx couldn't quite lose the momentum of his joviality just like that. He let his paw move forward to grasp Ellich's, more on instinct than anything else. It looked like the squirrel was low on comfort. "I wanted to get back to you about having somewhere to work. I'm sorry, I just haven't been able to before now."

"The jobs not really what I am missing, but whatever, a jobs nice." Ellich gently smiled at Linx when his paw was being held. "So I take it you are going to inform me about your own shop then right?" Ellich stood at the bottom of the steps with the warm floor at his feet thinking of what Linx would give him for a job.

"OK. This may sound a little more– or less, depending on how you feel about it– glamorous than it is. How," Linx started, addressing Ellich with some rock-solid eye contact, "How would you like to oversee the part of my shop that makes me by far the most money?"

"Well I really havent ever been to your shop, so what would that be?" Ellich laughed a little at how serious Linx looked. He couldn't help it, it was just so funny to look at. "Any job is fine with me Linx, I just need one."

"OK, how would you like to oversee the exporting of Exotic Weaponry's wares to trade sites all over the continent?" And offshore at times, too. It was by far the greatest source of income he had. Linx felt it was a major responsibility for both of them, but maybe that was what Ellich needed.

"I would love it! Wait... are you sure you want to give that to me?" Ellich grew a puzzled look on his face. He didn't know much about that type of thing, and wasnt sure that he would be good at it.

"It's a lot simpler than it sounds, but you have to be pretty good at organizing things... Making sure that all the crates have the right contents of the right amount and they're going to the right destinations. I figure your experience at the general store might actually help there," Linx explained further. It was something he desperately needed to get off his paws and it looked like Ellich might be a good option.

"Well I guess of you want me to, I'd love to do it." Ellich's problem of not having a job was solved, now all he needed to do was get over the rest of it all, which wouldnt be easy. "Thanks Linx."

"No problem, Ellich, this is really your job. I'll handle it for as long as you need to get adjusted, of course..." Linx didn't expect the squirrel to start right away. There was probably some stress-related issue or other holding him back. If it were MY life being ripped away... Yeah, I'd have a little trouble...

"Well I'll need a little help for a little while, but after I get the hang of it, I'll be fine." Ellich smiled again. Now he could actually have somthing to do. "Still thanks."

"Well, I guess we could start tomorrow or something. I dunno. Whenever is good with you, I'll try and make my schedule open. Whenever that actually is... I dunno." Linx took off his coat and tossed it onto the bed. Pretty soon he'd have to stop wearing that. It was beginning to warm up.

"Whenever's fine with you, I'm open from now... to forever." Ellich had that gloomy face on again, but at least this time he showed emotion when talking.
