"Yeah, we are. Don't you love how that works?" Linx flashed Tallone a cocky grin as he watched her draw. Noting how intently she was sketching, his expression became slightly more curious than anything else. "Don't you love how you can be so into something and I can't tell what it is? ...What are you doing?"

"I'm drawing a picture of how I remember you looking before I disappeared from the face of the earth. It may have only been two months, but you seem... Different. Maybe it's because you're so joyful!" she said as she turned the journal around so that he could see. It wasn't amazing, but it was far from bad. She'd had a decent bit of practice. If only she could paint to save her life...

"Um..." Linx wasn't sure how to respond to this drawing. He was unused to seeing himself drawn on parchment and, as a result, had no immediate reply. He stared speechlessly at the picture for a few long seconds, then looked up at Tallone, then back at the picture. Is that a representation of me? I'm being represented? Is that supposed to look like me exactly, when I last saw Tallone? Did I really look that dejected? ...How am I gonna say any of this? "It's good."

"Not really." she said with a sigh. "It looks... Sad. It even feels sad." she said, turningit this way and that, looking at it from different angles, right brow arched as she critiqued her own work. She'd smudged the fur on the left ear too much, and the nose was too dark, but other than that... It was just sad.
She closed the book suddenly and stuck it and the pencil into her belt pouch and removed the glasses from her face. They made her look like a grouchy old recorder. She stuffed the in her pocket and stood. "So, what's been going on with you?" she asked. She couldn't remember if she'd already asked or not. "Other than the baby, of course."

"Did you hear? Archon's gonna be a dad!" Linx flashed Tallone a playful smirk before resuming actual conversation. He did pause a moment to let her stop messing around with the pencil, book and glasses, though. "Well... I've been, um, getting rich. And I got that house... And I got that ship, yeah. Well, it's not privately owned, but I designed it and funded most of it, so it's kind of borderline."

Her ears turned forwards a bit. "A ship?" she asked, intrest piqued. She'd not heard anything about a ship. Then again, it stood to reason that she had not. And she'd not been down to the docks in months, which was odd for her, because she loved to sit on the end and watch the waves, or swim around under them and fish.

"Yes, the Toy Boat Project, I guess you haven't heard about it. It's a ship with no sails," Linx answered with a smile. This probably sounded about as ridiculous as a ship with no hull. "Sounds weird, right? Well... No. It's powered by a furnace belowdecks that heats up some water and... The steam pressure from the water boiling makes the ship move, it's actually a really nice setup. Plus, the silhouette of the ship is actually pretty low, and its cannons can fire so far... What a wonderful little ship it's gonna be." It was to be the pride of the fort fleet, with batteries rivaling what he was installing on the fort's walls. The mouse had reason to compliment it.

"Sounds... Confusing. Just like the rest of your inventions!" She said with a humorous chuckle. She'd given up understanding how most of his machnes worked, at least until she saw them for herself. It sounded like quiet the accomplishment. "When's her maiden voyage?" she asked as shestared up at the sky. It was bright out that day.

"When construction's done and we can assemble a crew, that's gotta take about a month," Linx responded with a twinge of regret. It wasn't the construction that bothered him but rather training a crew. Since he was the only one who actually knew how any of the ship was supposed to function, he'd have to train some sailors to do something that didn't involve sailing. This didn't bode well.
