Tallone sighed as she slipped into the river up to her nostrils. Everything felt different since she'd come out of her forge. She been in so long, working on her new axe. For some reason she'd expected, she supposed, that when she emerged, everything would be the same. It was not so. So many new creatures, and so many familiar creatures gone. She hardly heard from her only two friends (other than Marint), and she felt as if she'd have to start all over. It made her depressed, and she felt almost as if she'd rather go someplace new, like Mount Salamandastron, and make a new life for herself.
She would not, though... She was too attached to the Fort, unfortunatly for her.

One thing Mokwa didn't like to do was swim. It was likely because the water was always too cold, and, being cold-blooded, he couldn't withstand the temperature change. This was the reason he strolled alongside the river instead of actually getting in it. With minimal clothing on, since it wouldn't have helped him keep warm anyway, and no armament at all, the vest- and shorts-clad monitor would have looked harmless if he weren't... A monitor.
He stopped walking when he saw a beast he couldn't immediately identify swimming about in the water. Surprised enough to wrench him from his reverie, Mokwa started and looked around to see if anyone had noticed his reaction before taking a step towards the water. "Hey..."

Sleet did not like confinement. In fact she despised it. So she wondered beside the river, she'd kept to herself and didn't quite mind it that way. Ahead of her she made out the figure of a lizard, a monitor possibly, and some creature in the water, most likely an otter. She walked out onto a rock that protruded into the river and sat down, not minding to go say hello, odds are they wouldn't have appreciated it. The slender ferret wore a short shirt, that was tied around her neck by a braided rope, much like a halter top and black trousers adorned with many small odd pockets. At her waist as always was her belt, lined with throwing knives. Let legs dangled off the rock, her foot-paws, bear, brushed against the waters surface.
She turned her head away from the flowing water, her black eyes again took a long glance at the reptile and the the other beast. One of her paws passed over her head, her torn ear and dove gray fur. The other paw pulled a small throwing needle out from in between two of the knives. She twisted it about and twirled it in her claws. She forced her eyes to the black throwing needle and watched it weave about her claws, she sighed.

The black head rose suddenly from the water as she heard a voice call. She instantly went into a short fit of coughing, having inhaled a bit of the river water. Floudering for a moment, she waded quickly back to the bank where she sat down to catch her breath. When she had regained her second wind, she looked about to see who the creature was that had snuck up on her. She jumped slightly when she spotted the monitor, but didn't go into attack mode. She' heard about him. "Mokwa, isn't it? I'm Tallone." he said as she climbed to her paws, still slightly shaky. ahe lifted a forepaw to scratch at the white stripe on her head (it went from her muzzle tip down to her rudder tip) that greatly resembled that of a badger. She looked about to see ifanyone else had been there to witness her reaction, but luckily the only other creature present, a ferret, seemed to be ignoring them.

Sleet fell purposely back on the rock, she stared up at the branches that weaved and crossed above her. Then in one swift movement she let the throwing needle fly, directly upwards. It stuck in a thin little branch over her, she looked at it, absentmindedly. And then drew a throwing knife to play with, ignoring the fact that she'd gotten one of her weapons stuck out of reach in a tree. She could hear them, and in boredom she didn't completely ignore the conversation, but she made no move to make friends yet.
