"OK, fantastic, I don't have to change my locks," Linx sighed in relief. After a few seconds' pause, he pointed to the general direction of his house. It didn't take long for him to get tired of standing around and doing nothing. "Can we go back, then?"

Linx promptly caught up with a mate and put a paw on his far flank, pushing ever so slightly with his arm against Lars' back. "You sure you're OK? I mean... Where did you get all those bandages? Looks like about three rolls' worth." He keeps three rolls of bandages on him! Right!

I'm still alive right? Besides, I stopped by the sickbay first... Hence all the bandages.

Being alive surely qualifies as alright in this situation, right?

"There's a difference between being alive and being OK," Linx corrected him as they headed up to his house. He planned to delay going onto the main road until the last possible moment, so as to keep out of any crows. It didn't look like that was something Lars could withstand for a long time.

True... But to me right now, being alive is good enought for me to count as alright...
**Noticing Linx wasn't going onto the main road just yet, Lars smiled to himself... Linx was a careing beast quite a lot in his opinion.**

"Well, not enough for me. You have to be all right for me to call you all right... Of course, as a beast, you're not all right, you're fantastic," Linx countered with a smile. He did his best to support Lars' weight, which was plenty. He noticed how much weight the mouse was putting on him with some concern. "Those vermin... Where were they? On a trade route?"

"Now, why would anyone be walking through the forest off the road? It's not safer, you know. The fact that it's so open means that bandits can have a tough time hiding," Linx explained as they walked. "I know, hide in the trees and all, but not nearly as densely as they can within the forest itself." Apparently, Lars was just looking for some injury. Wandering about in the forest unarmed was about as good an idea as setting one's teeth on fire.

Maybe, but they were in a deeply wooded part. Quite dark too, so I couldn't see 'em comming until they were right on me.

"In the middle of the forest, unarmed," Linx repeated. He let a few seconds pass before continuing. "You don't need to try, you're already doing it. I mean, not like there's anything anything wrong with going out camping, but... Alone and unarmed? What's gotten into you?" The reason behind Lars' actions was far from apparent. Nothing Linx could think of proved itself as a genuinely possible cause for this mayhem. And now I have to deal with a wounded mouse. How do I always get crazy beasts at my doorstep?

I wasn't expecting trouble, and I was being too over confident that I could deal with any trouble that popped up... That wasn't exactly the wisest of ideas looking back on it all.
**Smiling somewhat dazedly at Linx, Lars let his head rest on the older mouse's shoulder.**

"It was exactly the most idiotic," Linx muttered under his breath as he slowly headed towards the main road, still partially carrying Lars. "I don't like seeing you guys get hurt. I also don't like being unable to do anything about it once it's happened. Kinda difficult to remain emotionally static here, man..." He wasn't feeling angry at Lars so much as frustrated at his inability to get back at his assailants. It resulted in a lot of fury going nowhere.
