"Up closer to the actual military fort," Archon replied blithely, pointing in its general direction. "Past the market square. One of the closest houses to the inner walls, the thing looks like it's part of the fort itself, way it's built." He said no more about it. Their house was about as easy to break into as a solid steel ball with a diamond at the center, so it didn't actually matter, but it was worth not blabbing about.

She took his short answer to heart. "I'm not going to break into your house, mousy, i'm not as stupid as you seem to think i am." As if she didn't know he had the brains to find her out even if she did try, and on top of that she couldn't think of anything he could possibly posses that she could not find anywhere else. Either way the idea had not even crossed her mind, she was not a thief normally, once in a while she'd get a job that required some amount of stealing but in general she only stole occasionally, mostly food from market places, nothing particularly of value. She was scouting out the fort for hiding purposes, job purposes, stealthy assassin-like purposes. And once again the fact that this mouse seemed to presume every act she did had to do with him and his weapon and his house blah blah blah was nothing short of amusing to her.
Sleet looked at him with a slight grin on her face, "I mean honestly It'd be enough to invite me to dinner, really." she said sarcastically.

"I'm just saying," Archon sighed resignedly. There was still no talking to Sleet. She took everything the wrong way, and if he decided to go the other way and be a bit less subtle about things, she'd then take it at face value. This did little more than make her look rather cynical. "We've already passed a lot of your potential employers. They stick near the walls for some reason, I think it's so they can get out of here fast."

She could tell by his sigh her relentless witty and somewhat sarcastic talking was perhaps getting to him. She attempted a softer approach, though it was not exactly in her nature. "Well if theres any smart ones then they may be able to recognize an employee, no?" She said, gesturing to her array from deadly, silent and small weapons. "As long as they don't get out of here TOO fast." She growled, she'd been ripped off before, but of course, being the one and only Sleetfang she'd gotten her just payment.
There was a pause but she seemed to be thinking uneasily about something, "Are there many badgers around here? or maybe ones coming by from Salamandastron?" Not only were badgers unpopular with her, but any beast from Salamandastron could possibly seek her out in a moment. She asked the question and looked at Archon for an answer, pushing all related thoughts from her mind, she didn't want them.

"Badgers? Uh... Pretty much never," Archon replied. He'd never actually thought about that one; despite the fort's cosmopolitan nature, there weren't any badgers in it. Maybe it was because Linx alienated them all with his driving competition from Salamandastron's weapon industry into the dirt. "And... No. They don't get out of here too fast, they keep deals and everything. It's just to help keep them alive."
He noted a slight change of behavior on the ferret's part but said nothing. It wasn't possible to guess her intentions that indirectly.

"Thats good, not popular, with most... you know." She shrugged, he didn't, and she wasn't keen on explaining but it didn't matter she was sure he got the jist of it. She let the conversation fade, if he wanted to bring up something he could, but she felt as if he may just want her to leave him alone. Perhaps she'd find someone who wanted him dead, wouldn't that be fun... she chuckled to herself at the idea.

Such beasts tended to die before they got the word out. Of course, that had only happened a few times, and not with beasts who actually lived in the fort. Archon considered himself more or less under the radar; Linx would be a target if he didn't have such a large group that would inherit his money, possessions and property upon his death, as well as no real benefit for any entity out there. Except maybe those at Salamandastron. "So what are you gonna do now?"

"I'm still partial to you inviting me to dinner. I mean I am a bit hungry...." She looked at him with a smug expression on her face, "i mean, it'd just be the friendly thing to do, you know?"

"Do you know what time it is?" Archon had already eaten his dinner before going out on patrol. The idea of having it again seemed a bit ridiculous; then again, Sleet could just be teasing him. He had no way of knowing, which was in itself bothersome. The context didn't help. "Not time for dinner..."

She glanced around, he was right, it was certainly not dinner time, but she didn't care, and that on-schedule mouse could not keep her back if she was hungry. And she was, very very hungry. "Breakfast?" She asked hopefully, staring at him with a slightly joking yet puppy-dogish look. She wasn't sure what would possibly be open or serving food, she could always steal but it was always better to be civil the first time visiting anywhere.

"Breakfast," Archon repeated slowly. "Dinner was about four hours ago, and you want... Breakfast. I guess you just slept for about thirty seconds there..." He was planning to go to bed as soon as he returned to his house, which was actually visible at that point. "But I just want to turn in."

"You're going to leave me out in the cold with no breakfast?" She said sadly. "C'mon I'm sure you've got a kitchen, or a pantry, right? I'm not fat, honestly I'm not going to drain your food supply. Don't I seem trustworthy?" The question was asked in complete seriosness, but she smirked after saying it, realizing how oxymoronic it seemed.

"Not really..." Archon headed up to the house and went for his keys as it approached. As he'd described it, it was a two-story miniature fortress, complete with a multiple-locked door and steel shutters over the windows. There was only one way in and that was with the mouse approaching it. "I guess I could get you something. Do you have anywhere to stay?"

"Well, yeah, actually when you weren't looking I bought a house, its right up the road, I also took the time to paint it purple and plant a nice vegetable garden. I plan to add a gazebo so we can have tea parties." She said, she didn't say it sarcastically but the meaning was clear.

"That's ridiculous," Archon shot back with a glare, which quickly turned into a grin. "I've been looking at you this whole time!" He walked up the steps to the porch, glad to be under the shelter of the roof as he unlocked both locks on the door and swung it open to reveal a shockingly spacious living room with candles everywhere where candles could safely be and three couches positioned around a low central table. "Come on in."
