Vaeli Lutra walked across the ground, wondering if she could find any other soldiers here. Her paw shot to her dirk, ready to fight if need be.

"Now, I've seen many a soldier do many a deed..." Heading across the open training ground towards Vaeli in a white, short-sleeved shirt and light gray, long-legged pants, Linx didn't look as important as he actually was. The only two things about him that made him look at all significant were his shoes that were made of black, glossy leather so well-polished that it shined like a lake on a hot summer day, and the CHAR on his back. The Chemical Assault Rifle was an odd sight in general, looking straight out of the future for all intents and purposes, but it was inconspicuous enough among bolt repeaters and repeater rifles. Its muzzle brake was visible over the mouse's shoulder. "But I don't think I've ever seen a soldier prepare to randomly stab anyone."

Vaeli turned around at the sound of the voice. She pulled her hand away from the dirk and fixed her eyes on the strange mouse. She wasn't the kind of otter to speak first, nor speak at all, so she waited for the mouse to talk.
When the mouse stayed silent, Vaeli decided to talk. "My name's Vaeli Lutra." She said shortly, her voice hoarse from being unused.

Lashiken was up in a nearby tree, silently watching the scene from his refuge. He saw his moment and decided to introduce himself. "Aye there, the name's Lashiken. I'm new around these parts too. -thought if i joined up with you, it would be easier to get around...how do ya do?" he tipped his straw hat and jumped down from the tree. He was a bit ragged looking, with just his shorts, pole, and haversack. A grin formed on his face as he leaned on the tree, plucked a thin stick and placed it into his teeth. "Vaeli Lutra eh? Nice to met yer, but your pal there is right, no need to be wavin that dirk around, 'could put an eye out," he chuckled.

Vaeli turned around at the sound of the squirrel's voice. She was not a creature that liked crowds of any sort. "I haven't even drawn it, but I will if'n ye' don't stop talkin' about it. Now then, since when did ye' join?" She took a few steps away from Linx. There was something about that mouse that she didn't like, not to mention the assortment of rifles and other guns. He looked like a walking weapon factory. Rolling her eyes, she padded away. As far as she was conserned, she needed to get acquanted with the place.

"My name is Linx Exotic," the mouse called after her flatly. If she didn't know the name, she was in trouble. Since he was the fort's most powerful beast, rivaling Finnerator herself in power and trouncing her in wealth, he felt a bit put off by her acting like his face wasn't at all recognizable. "I already made a comment about the dirk," Linx pointed out testily to Lashiken after a few seconds. "Don't push it."
