Meanwhile, Dengoro didn't even have a family. He adjusted his direction to go straight towards the fort, which was visible in the distance, if just a silhouette. As they went, it was a rather wide and squat one. "You're the first skunk I've seen in... A long time. You could get some money from Linx based on just that, you know."

"Heh, trust me I have a job, and a home that doesnt cost money, I don't need any." Really, though she was telling the truth, she had a very good job, and made a fair amount of money that got her by easily in life. "You are the first skunk i've seen in a while too."

"Correction, get money without having to do much anything... It's for his benefit as well, you understand." Dengoro didn't want to have to get into another discussion about what that entailed. He'd been through it too many times with others. "Uh... Your home is just... Out here. You're not worried about safety or anything?"

"Other beasts live there, really I am really not worried at all about safety..." She glanced back at her home as it steadily continued to fade away as they walked to the fort. "However, I am worried about some other people finding it, and making me move or SOMTHING like that..."

"Well, you... You know what I'm gonna tell you," Dengoro sighed as he looked up at the looming gatehouse. It seemed to tower over him even from its sizable distance. That was probably why it had such reputation for looking scary. "Everything is better at the fort. I am serious, the worst of lives in the fort would be worse outside."

"You'd be surprised... Really the whole system of caves feels like a family. Huge fires at night, nice food cooked over a fire... everyone is there...its nice..." She turned her gaze down with a somewhat upset gaze that she even told him where she lived. Now if he didn't force her to live in the fort, he would tell others where they lived, and the other people would...maybe even literally...kill her.

"I dunno where your place is, exactly... Uh... Could I visit sometime? It sounds like you have a pretty good place going." Dengoro was actually just eager to see more of his species. He had seen none over the course of his life except for his father, and that was a terrible example. There had to be a culture he was missing out on. "Other skunks there?"

"No... You are actually the first I have met other than my parents, and as far as visiting...I don't think the others would like to know that you even know that I live there." Emeral glanced back one last time, then continued forward again. She was regreting what she told him more by the second.

"What? You apparently live in a cave system. Which is on the coast. Which is of minimal value as property, minimal value tactically and minimal value for its resources, because it's obviously already inhabited and anything valuable in valuable quantity is gone already." This left the question of who else inhabited it unanswered. Dengoro decided to voice that before Emeral could reply about the value of the cave. "Emeral... Who else lives there?"

"Err... A hedgehog, his wife, and daughter...two squirrels...and a badger..." Emeral looked uneasy giving off more info, and decided if he asked another question she would not answer.

"Oh... Right, you just all... Live together. In a cave." Dengoro didn't like the way it sounded. They couldn't just sustain themselves and there was no reason to live in such obviously miserable conditions outside the fort. "With no fresh water access. I wouldn't want to live there..."

"Oh but thats not true, there's a fresh water spring somewhat close by, like I said, we get along..." Emeral wondered why she even told him anything else, and silently hit her paw against her leg for being so stupid.

"Odd. I don't get why anyone would want to live outside the fort... I'd like to meet them sometime, though. They have to be good beasts if you live with them." Dengoro flashed Emeral a coy smile before turning back to look at the gate up ahead of them. His first contact with his own kind after his father's death was going well enough, but he felt his carnal desires asking for more contact than that.

Emeral paused for a second, then almost unwillingly moved on. She saw that look on his face. The one look that guys gave when they wanted 'contact'. Her face turned to a scowl for a moment, because really she didn't have the same idea. She hated ever doing something like that without getting to know a person better. "Yeah but there are better beasts out there." She glanced back to prove where she meant.

OOC: No post for over two months?... OK...
BIC: "If you say so," he shrugged apathetically, keeping his eyes fixed on the gate. It was more or less indoctrinated for him to at least try giving it a shot. If it didn't work, though, as had happened, he wasn't about to protest. Besides, he didn't quite know better, having been raised in a very strange atmosphere. "You should bring some along some time. I'm curious."
