Archon couldn't put up with the general lack of contact he'd been having towards Amathyst for long. He eventually decided to pay a visit to her conveniently nearby house, arriving in the late afternoon when he knew she would be home from work and not yet busy with preparing herself a dinner. Arriving in his typical black summer garb, it looked like it was going to be another one of those mundane visits.
However, he didn't want it to go that way. He had much to discuss with Amathyst, and wanted to see how the pregnancy was faring for her anyway, not to mention the fractured arm. Not only this, but he had come to the realization that her self-sequestering had to have had some impact on her social life and he'd prepared for that as well. The mouse knocked three times on the door just softly enough to keep it from damaging the hinges. He turned to look over his shoulder when he was done. "Think she heard?"
"Definitely," Linx grinned.

"Alright, alright... I'm comming, I'm comming... Don't knock the door in..."
Openeng the door, Amathyst got quite a shock, slammed the door closed, took a deep breath, and then opend it again, looking rather sheepish and embarresed.
"Erm... Sorry... Do you both want to come in?"

"That sounds lovely," Archon smiled, giving Amathyst a peck on the cheek as he passed her. He hadn't seen her in some time and it was a relief to see– and feel– her as she was now. She was looking a tad awkward, though. "Just don't slam any more doors on me, you almost took my paw clean off..."
Linx just nodded as he passed by Amathyst, throwing in a warm smile for good measure. The fact that he'd been with her and her entire nuclear family before was bound to put in some tension in the air, if slight in magnitude. Then again, he barely understood that, since that was how his own family had always worked.

"Sorry... I wasn't expecting any visitors today..."
Still looking sheepish and embarrased, she closed the door behind the two after they entered.
"So... What brings two handsome mice such as yourselves over here?"

"Probably our footpaws," Archon joked. It'd been some time since he'd last seen Amathyst and he didn't expect such a question. "Came to check on you. Among other things. What's going on here? You haven't... I haven't seen you a lot lately..."
Linx held his paws behind his back and said nothing. He didn't want to try and get in the way of this couple's interacting. Instead, he remained stationary, and eventually shut the door when nobody else did. They're a nice couple... I can see that...

"Maybe... Is that somethign in your pocket, or are you just please to see me?"
Smiling at Archon's joke and retorting with her own, Amathyst was glad to have company, other than the one in her womb...
"I've been kinda busy... And tired... And hungry... Which doesn't make for good going out feleings or time..."

"Well, actually, both," Archon smiled. He reached into the pocket of his shorts and pulled out a thick paper cylinder, that being the paper that was thick, not the cylinder. Holding it out to Amathyst, he let his smile break into a grin. Giving things was always fun. "It isn't what you think... It's just a little gift from me to you. Take it."

"For me? Thanks..."
Taking it and starting to unwrap it, she looked up at him, also smiling.
"Can I ask what it is?"

"Well, you can, technically... It's a timekeeper. Spring-operated, accurate to about five minutes and imported from the south... It uses some very good inertia to help keep the spring movement constant." The irregular shape of the package was due to the irregular shape of the device; it looked like a telescope, but with a pair of hands on one end. "It's all sized down... Not tiny, but it's not that big, now, is it? It set me back a bit... Like the silver plating?"

"Ohhh... Shiny..."
Having unwrapped the "shiny thing", Amathyst wasn't really paying much attention to the explaination, but the word "silver" did get past her facination with it. Still holding it on one paw, she put Archon in one of the biggest hugs she had ever given him.

Archon had to tense his torso up to allow himself to breathe, Amathyst was hugging him so hard. He managed to speak while holding onto her as well. "You know, Ama, you'd better wind it... It's kinda intuitive, you wind the thing to charge up the spring, and... The two ones at the top adjust the pointers. I suggest you... You like the silver, huh?"
Meanwhile, Linx had headed over to the couch after taking his shoes off and lay down on it. He'd been out and about the whole day and was just looking to take a load off his footpaws. In truth, he had very little reason to even be there. "I'll just, uh... Lay here now."

"Silver's shiny... And I like shiny..."
Letting go of Archon to examin the "shiny thing", Amthyst soon had it working after a few moments.
"It... Ticks? Interesting..."
Nodding to Linx when he sat down, she flashed him a quick smile.
"Be my guest."

"It tells the time," Archon sighed. "And it doesn't need a pendulum to do it. Nor a weight. You can carry it around in your pocket all day and it'll always tell you the time, just... Rewind the spring every day or so, otherwise it'll run out of energy, and... I'm glad you like it," the mouse finished with a sigh that epitomized his awkwardness. He was just being too technical about it. "And it's shiny."
Linx sat up to look at Amathyst in earnest, for the first time he'd entered the house. He was mildly surprised with what he saw. "Put on a living weight, Ama?"

"But it makes a ticking sound... Which is fun..."
Setting the item down on the table, she put her arms loosely around his waist.
"And there's that too. Shiny things aren't bad."
And then came Linx's question... Which she answered relatively quickly.
"Just a little... Which is called being pregnant."

Archon smiled and took Amathyst in a careful embrace, leaning in to kiss her on the cheek. He was aching to spend some time with her but Linx was complicating matters. "I'm glad you like it... Just don't break it or anything."
"Yeah, I see that... I guess that's what it'll be like," Linx mused, implicitly speaking not of Amathyst's future but that of Zahi. Now that things were in place, he could be expecting her to have a similar course to her daughter. Is that just a little bit awkward? Her... Daughter? Probably is.
