"So yeh kin come wid us inner hunt." Weghul really did not know what else to say. "Iffn' yews are ready, we'll jist git on dis hunt." So saying, he brought the map to about face level. Where did it say to go next?
Hmmm..."Down der left bend, and keep it straight. Den yews kum to a rapids. In der rapids der is a spot a liddle to der left offen it. Dis is where deh 'x' is located." Weghul finished reading, as he assesed how far they would have to go.
"I says go nows. Iffen yews coming der better be's come fast ,'cause wes no waiting fer yous." Upon saying this, Weghul, elbowed Spinetooth to indicate that they should get going. As he and Spinetooth wandered off in the direction of the 'treasure', they could hear the two otters following them. Let them follow them for all Weghul cared, at the very least there was a real possiblity of gaining from all this.... (done) -------------- ooc:If anybody wants to join, great. The next post will be at the treasures location....

Terg followed behind the two vermin quietly as they came to the rapids. He looked back and grinned at Thaddius. This was really rather amusing. He had to admit that he was surprised that the rat could even read a map. He looked at the spot the had stopped at. "Now what? Do we dig? I don't think we have anything to dig with but our paws and blades. You two don't have any blades. "

The rapids made noise like a thousand winds all at once. It was almost impossible to concentrate fully over the tremor of the flowing water. There were thick woods on both sides of the roaring stream as well. It was here, that Weghul and Spinetooth stopped.
"There id is' said Weghul pointing to a barerly concealed copse to their right, "It should be right here."He elbowed Spinetooth before his lackey could say any stupid comment that might worsen their situation. "Dis copse here, at de base 'O de tree".
Weghul tactfully chose to ignore the snide comments coming from the two streamdogs. He knew (party) what he was doing. There were branches aplenty in this forest, it was just a matter of finding the flattest ones. In no time at all, he and Spinetooth had found some nice long branches with reasonably flat sides. Now it was just a matter of letting Spinetooth do all the work, while Weghul 'supervised.'
It was arduous going, hampered even more by the fact that the soil around the tree base was packed tough. Weghul soon grew disgusted with the slow pace and actually started chipping in himself. After an hour or two of this, Weghul couldn't take it anymore, he just couldn't, this was backbreaking work. "Give it up Spiney, 'deres nuthin' here!" He growled in fustration digging his stick into the ground one last time. To everyones great surprise, the stick broke cleanly in two pieces with the force of impact. The pirates had found their treasure! (done) -------------- ooc:Next post they will probably talk about the treasure or something...Fell free to say what you think they found and rp it....

Terg watched as the two hapless beasts chipped away at the hard earth. He had tried to jump in and help several times but hte swinging sticks kept him from getting to close. He made himself comfortable against a tree. When Weghul finaly admitted defeat Terg had to hold back a sigh of relief. As soon as hte stout limb broke though Terg was on his paws. He had never really expected to find treasur, just to keep the two vermin out of trouble for a bit. Bending over his ushered Weghul and Spinetooth aside. "Let me take care o' this mates." He groped about until he found paw holds and yanked with all his might. What ever was in the ground was stuck fast. Taking his dirk the big otter dug around the object in an attempt to loosen it. Sheathing his dirk again he heaved once more. The 'treasure' shot out of the hole and sent Terg stumbling back. Setting what appeared to be a dirt covered chest on the ground Terg grinned. "There's yur treasure mates. All locked up." He pointed to the rusty padlock that held the old chest shut. Unsheathing his dirk again Terg peered at the lock and thrust his dirk in. With a few tunrs the lock clicked open and Terg stood up. "There yeh go. You can open up since it was you who found et." He moitioned Weghul forward.

The lock to the chest opened up with uncanny ease. Spinetooth was promptly shoved out of the way by Weghul in his haste to view the contents of the chest. Weghul was not to be deprived of treasure, no matter how it was obtained. Had not the otter said that they could keep it?
Weghul pushed the lid open after much effort. He really hadn't expected it to be that heavy. Now to reap his rich reward! Weghul closed his eys and dipped his hand into the chest expecting to feel untold riches gracing his hand. He had a very different feeling however.
There was no gold, silver, or any other riches of that sort contained in the chest. There were only knives in the chest, all point up. It had been a decoy chest, placed right right next to where the real chest was likely buried. Weghul had just sliced off his own hand in his foolish recklessness.
Weghul was able to say one thing before he passed out though... "De knives be made of de bone" (done)

As Weghul opend the chest Terg peeked over his shoulder. He was about to yank the vermin back as he plunged his paw into the trap but he was to late. As the self inflickted injury left a dark stain on the ground Terg rolled the rta over nad slammed the box shut. He ripped a strip from his shirt and called to Spinetooth "Go find some dock leaves. They grow in clumps. They're big and flat." THe otter leaned over Weghul. THough he was a vermin he had to help him. He staunched the bleeding as best he could. Lifting the rat as if he where mearly a fe pounds he carried him over to the river and lowered the stump of his arm into the cold water. Hopefully it would stop the bleeding. Wetting his paws he slapped Weghul lightly on the cheeks in an attempt to wake him up.

OOC: Terg, is Otter's Fort the only site you go on now? What about the other sites you're on?

OOC: I try to visit other sites from time to time. The problem is I don't have interent at home for the moments so I only have acces to it at the library. I am a newly appointed officer here at OF, so I'm trying to stay active here. Plus this site really needs all the boost it can get after Finnerator left. What site do I know you from?

Time passed as Weghul lay there on the streambed. He was bleeding seriously by now. If not properly cared for, Weghul would die. The rat did not even feel when his arm was soaked in ice cold water. Niether did he react in any visible way when the otter slapped him on the cheek.
Treasure? He was long since past caring about that now.The fight to survive had superseded all other objectives. He neither knew nor cared what Spinetooth was up to now. Let that poor fool wander off on his own, he surely knew Nothing about medical aid at all.
Just then Spinetooth came rushing out of the wood, with something cradled in his arms. "Den der! I gets den herbs, dey staunch wonds, dey do",Spinetooth cried out. Maybe there Was hope left after all. As Spinetooth was busy applying the poultices to the wound Weghul relaxed. He probably would not die now.
He craned his neck to look at the otter, who stared back at him quizzically. "Dey nows I gits dis ways", Weghul said to the otter, " De cou' care less 'bout de treasure. Id de fake, jis like I's de fake."
"I kinna do dis no more, dis lifestyle is a hektic wun"

Terg pressed the leaves against Weghul's bloody stump of an arm. he would do all he could to save the rat. He knew it was stupid since this was one of the very vermin he was sworn to fight and destroy. This one seemed pretty harmless even more so now. He had to admit he had only come on this crazy trip to keep an eye one the two but now he felt obligated to keep the rat from dying. He felt slightly sorry for Weghul despite himself. He would have to go through life maimed now. He would never be able to fight or wrok as well as he used to. Terg tore another strip from his shirt and bound the leaves to the rat's injury.
"What are yeh talking about? You look plenty real to me," he said in an attempt to lighten the mood. "Come on mate. Ain't we all fakes? We all try to be somthin' we aint at one time or another. We just ain't satified with the way we are. But we should just try to better ourselves instead of dressing up. Come one mate. I know you arn't really a treasure hunter. Your a vermin fur goodness sake. You probably have done some bad stuff in yur life."
