This one was easier for Linx to immediately answer. "Then I'll stop mindlessly trouncing my enemies and these creations will be really put to the test. And I think we're nearing their main group."
Archon had been looking straight ahead the whole time. "I think we're in weapons range, for the fire throwers, at least."

Ironically, said delusional/sensible rodent in question was nestling in the woods not too far away. Pressing his covered face against the glass, he drew (without even glancing at the parchment) a vague outline of the weapons and figures carrying them. The sketches were almost useless from an engineering standpoint... but at least he knew which weapon did what. After a while, he closed the sketchbook and slipped it beneath his cloak. "Kazu. You have done well. When they have left the area, dispose of any surviving stoat mercenaries. If they ask for their fee... tell them Veil Deathmark only rewards the strong."
The weasel giggled beside his master. The fox left while the weasel and three others remained, awaiting the moment of their task...

Neither Linx or Archon were aware of this presence, though. "C'mon, let's get the throwers loaded already," Linx muttered as he did just that for his own.

Auric finished loading and cranking his. "I have been waiting for this to happen for only half an hour and yet I feel like I've been waiting for the new year." Auric could see an encampment over the next hill. "Oh, look... structures to burn down. Happy day."

Archon had some trouble fitting the breech shut but Linx quickly helped him with the latch. The former spoke. "We should fire simultaneously... Bigger effect, and they won't anticipate as much."
"Good idea," Linx affirmed as he got down on one knee and took aim.

Auric followed suit, kneeling and carefully aiming in the same direction. "This is almost better than swashbuckling... I'm ready."

Archon took aim, and subsequently the initiative. "Three. Two. One. ...Fire." He pulled the trigger at the same time as Linx and Auric did with theirs, and three simultaneous loud bangs were more than audible. A trio of flaming projectiles hurtled into the encampment and wreaked incendiary havoc.

Auric carefull laid down his fire thrower and unsheathed his scimitar. He waited for the screams to start before dashing in to cut down confused, blinded, and burned stoats. His laugh was almost demonic somehow... but only in that Auric Ashtongue way.

Archon lingered behind, taking precision shots with his repeater rifle. It was a surprisingly effective way to dispatch soldiers.
Linx emptied his magazine of its remaining bullets rather quickly in one long sustained volley of fire which felled half a dozen various vermin charging him. He tried not to think about how much this was costing as he dropped the magazine and slapped in a full one to take on the attackers (or defenders?) approaching. Fortunately for him not many carried ranged weaponry, although he did have to take cover behind a blazing pile of rubble to avoid getting hit by a crossbow bolt at one point. The CAR was a very costly but very effective success and hadn't even jammed as of yet.

Auric certainly wasn't worried about ammunition, hacking and slashing the vermin who pass from his allies' range. Yesterday he was terrified of this land... today he was elated. He returned and picked up the flame thrower and began stalking the area for anyone he could burn alive who wasn't already dead.

OOC: It's a fire thrower, for the (what is it now?)th time, and it's an incendiary grenade launcher, not a flamethrower. That's the fire breather which we're not equipped with.
BIC: Linx was burning through ammunition at an alarming rate. After his third magazine he shouldered the CAR and switched over to his rake sword, just out of the cost of sustaining fire and the risk of using a ranged weapon at this proximity without even a bayonet.

OOC: Arrgghh... well, when you consider flame=fire and launcher=thrower in the sense they're exact synonyms, it's easy to get confused. Though to be fair, I still have the same problem with 'hands' and 'paws'...
BIC: Auric, in almost irritatingly psychic fashion, called out. "Told you bayonets would be a good idea." He took out of pair of veteran warriors with one shot. "Hell's whiskers... I could probably hire these guys, if the situation was different."

OOC: No way, I just had to go offline for the night because I'm a person and need sleep. Dead means no posts in a week or so.
BIC: "You and your negotiation. ...HA! Negotiation!" Linx spoke each word between one strike or another. A good amount of them were fatal, the vast majority lethal, and all of them very brutal. The rake sword did what it always did in slashing attacks--- Rend and tear its way through what it couldn't cut.
Archon noticed he was getting less and less targets to shoot at. This didn't mean he couldn't repeatedly get Auric and Linx out of sticky situations, though.
