That's true but it doesn't fit into the nature of the fort. Which is far more combat-oriented.

Who cares what it's called, lets just call it an ocean patrol, okay?

Wh... We really need a debate forum to take these. Keep other places clean.
Fishrudder, do you know where we're going? I'm not sure how informed any of the other people here are about this.

Goodness, you people post a lot. I specifically said no plot, which means I'm basically doing this on a whim. I have absolutely no idea where we're going, that's what makes it interesting.
I picture the Stormy Otter as a three masted ship, but not a huge man-of-war type thing. Then again I never really thought about it before because I don't know that much about ships IRL. There's no gunpowder on Otter's Fort, hence, no guns on the ship.
Well, if there's this much interest in a quest, then I'd better get started on my opening post.

I know, no refined explosives (gunpowder) in Redwall, but I didn't say guns when I said onboard armament. This includes big ballistae on the deck and stuff.
I know a fair amount about ships (usually post-Renaissance but I have some about older stuff as well. Well, three-masted means it's not a trireme or anything, which is odd because generally larger ships like that were seen later in history... OK, shutting up now.

If I'm correct, it would be really difficult to fit a ballitsa on the deck of a ship. I don't think so. The ship isn't armed, so the only weapons on it are our own weapons.
