**Aral watched as the crew raced towards the table, he simply rolled his eyes and thought, Why are they in such a rush, they just got here and are already eating, I wonder how many ate before they got here. Speaking of food I haven't ate since midday the other day He calmly reached into a pack and pulled out a loaf of bread, tore off a hunk and started chewing it. He then started looking for Linx, he was one of the few friends Aral had here, besides Fishrudder and the recently deceased Stealth. As he walked towards Linx he heard Azrah say**
Around eight Wow, she is off **Aral turned, swallowed the last piece of bread and said to her** Your a bit off, it's closer to midday, maybe a few glasses (Hours) before, but no more then three. **Without waiting for an answer he turned and walked towards Linx, he said to Linx** I wonder what exactly we are doing out here?
OOC: First of all, Azrah, Merriwin, and Tallon, Terg and Clearbrook make your posts longer. Add description, what is your character thinking, doing and saying. Use as many words as you know. Give it some time

Post by Finnerator Rudderbow on Jan 7, 2008 15:29:58 GMT -5
*Finnerator Rudderbow soon had the ship on a course that ran parallel to the shore. From this point, they would be able to spot trouble at sea and on the beach. She looked at the cliffs passed the beach and recognized that the ship was near to where there were reports of corsairs from a small village. The pirates could be long gone from here, but then again, they might have stuck around to restock supplies. From here on in, the crew would have to keep a closer eye on the horizon*
*As she was thinking these things through, Archon and Linx approached her. It seemed that Archon wanted something to do, which worked perfectly for Finnerator since she was about to ask somebeast to take the crows nest*
Archon, you can take the crows nest. There may be corsairs hanging around this area and I need somebeast to keep watch for other ships on the horizon. As to your pack, you could have stowed it in the crew's quarters below deck at the beginning of the patrol. I suggest you do so now, then I want you to act as lookout.
*Orders given, she turned her attention back to steering, but since the ship was on course there wasn't much for her to do. Still, somebeast had to take the wheel. Then the ottermaid spotted a beast come out from below decks. She recognized her as Tallone and called to her*
Tallone, take the wheel. Just keep the ship parallel with the shore at the the distance it's at now.
*She waited for the otter to reach the wheel then left her in charge of steering. Finnerator hadn't had a chance to look over the ship since they set out and presently, she wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly*

Archon promptly felt like a complete idiot for not taking his pack down earlier. He had never even been on this ship before, and only been on any ship at all a few times before now. And now he was being told to go stow his belongings at the crew quarters... Wherever the heck that was. The ship wasn't that large, he'd have a hard enough time getting lost, but it was still an unfamiliar and daunting setting. He gestured to Linx for the mouse's own pack, figuring he could get both in one trip and save some work. It wasn't as heavy as he expected, though, since something was missing.
Linx was, apart from his sheathed rake sword which would be useless at range, unarmed. So he had decided to, while Archon spoke with Finnerator, take off his pack, open it up and fish out a few things, chiefly his CAR, a pre-loaded magazine and a shoulder strap which he was unrolling with one paw as he handed Archon his pack. "There, could you just take that down?" After hooking the strap to either attachment point on the CAR and carefully fitting in his magazine, Linx slung the CAR over his shoulder. It was a comfortable feeling amidst the chaotic excitement of setting sail on the Stormy Otter, feeling the weight and form of his weapon resting on his back. Despite his surroundings this single stimulus was enough to make the mouse feel somewhat at home.
Meanwhile, Archon was far from at home... Stumbling around belowdecks with his own pack as well as Linx's, albeit the latter being depleted, weighing him down, was beginning to annoy him. The poor lighting wasn't helping much with his inability to locate the crew quarters... They're not a deck below, are they? He had never really taken the time to learn this ship's layout and now that lack of knowledge was smashing him. Literally, in fact, as the pitching of the vessel on the waves while he was in the middle of shifting the weight distribution of Linx's pack sent him stumbling sideways and slamming into a wall.
I wonder what Archon's doing right now... Linx still was without an assignment so he braved walking up to Finnerator. Approaching figures of authority typically wasn't an issue, except at sea. That was different. The Captain ruled everything. He had nothing. He had to clench his paws into fists to keep them from trembling too noticeably, and when he finally worked up the nerve to speak, his voice sounded distant. "Uh... Captain," he said with a noticeable quaver. "I'd like an assignment..." Oh, smart. I'd like an assignment! Why don't you just go ahead and say, I'm too stupid to do anything but stand around and bug you for orders you don't need to be giving. Way to go, Linx, you'll be commanding your own ship in a second, at this rate...
By the time Archon located what he assumed to be the crew quarters, not only was he a sorry mess but he had no idea where he was on the ship. It had looked so small when he was standing on the main deck, he had no idea that it was even possible to get lost in. Then again, the mouse had never been good at navigation... After dropping off both of the packs he barely even remembered to take and load his bolt repeater before trying to find his way back up. OK, just look for the light places... Suuure.

((A long post isn't neccessarily a good post...))
"Aye-aye, Captain!" Tallone called out before bounding over, dodging around beasts left and right. It was quite a crowded ship. She hadn't been on one since her exile..... shaking her head, she put the gloomy days of her past behind her. Her paws took a firm grip of the wheel as she looked to the shoreward side of the vessel. She was sailing about even. She grinned wide as a gust of wind struck her face as she adjusted the wheel a bit. She hadn't been sailing in seasons, not willingly, anyways, and it was just so nice... There was nothing happier than a sea otter on a voyage out to sea! What a lovely day.... There were gulls high up in the sky, swooping around each other and calling azily into the distance. The sea was calm and blue. The sky was clear, as far as she could see at least....

**Azrah and Iceblade appeared side by side both hadn't properly herd the orders, being at the oposit end of the ship, and Azrah spoke for them both,** um we were on the other side of the ship and didn't hear exactly what you said Linx, could you please repeat it.**
**Iceblade nodded in agreament and aded,** so is their a job to do? Or is their a probleme?

*Finnerator was pleased that her orders were carried out without hesitation. It looked like the discipline of Otter's Fort was just as good as ever, which would be very helpful if it came to a sea battle. She liked to know that she could trust her crew to follow orders. Next to approach her for an assignment was Linx who was not as confident as Archon or some of the others though he was just as competent if not more. In fact, she had been considering promoting the mouse to an officer's position because of his skill with weapons*
"Uh... Captain, I'd like an assignment..."
*The sea otter raised an eyebrow at the hesitating and shaky voice with which Linx made the request. He didn't seem to act like that on land and Finnerator was a bit confused by the lack of confidence. Maybe Linx is unused to being on a ship, she thought to herself. Finnerator did in fact have a job for Linx to do*
Linx, I need you to take stock of what weapons we have on the ship. There are crates in the armoury for the crew's use, but I don't believe that they were checked yet.
*Most warriors carried their own weapons, but Finnerator always liked to keep a separate supply on hand just incase. Now free to roam about the ship, she did so. The otter wanted to make sure that there weren't any unexpected problems*

Weapons... Something Linx was used to. Unfortunately, the ship would probably be stocked with conventional weaponry, but at least it would be something he was familiar with, unlike the Stormy Otter herself. It seemed at times that a few implements of destruction involved in a situation would turn it into one Linx was far more comfortable with. "I understand, Captain, uh... I'll... Go now." What might have been a confident reply collapsed again. He started to turn away but then turned back, almost falling over as the deck pitched unexpectedly... From his point of view, at any rate. His sea legs had yet to really develop. "Captain, uh, where, where is it? The armory?" What little knowledge he had about the ship's layout was quickly evaporating. His mind was too busy running in circles.

OOC: It's far too late, this quest is pretty much dead. Also, try and refrain from doing OOC-only posts.

I think this group might be inactive, but if you'd like to look into another Redwall RP group that's still alive and well, why don't you check out Dibbuns Against Bedtime? DAB has been around for well over a decade, and was even featured by Brian Jacques in Triss. We're still active and RPing every day, so if you decide to join your account will be approved and you can get started in the fun within hours (well, unless all the mods are asleep ). Hope to meet ye soon, mate! ~Ottie
