Raen ran to catch up to the others. He had brought a dark cloak along with his usual outfit. Across his back was his staff, which he never went anywhere without. Fishrudder was signaling for the others to board the ferryboats, that could fit two creatures each. Hoping he wasn't too late, Raen sped up to join the others, nearly forgetting to slow down.
((Sorry for the post. I'm being rushed.))

OOC: By who? Heehee IC: Sinthin crawled into the ferryboat behind Archon, he felt the boat shake beneath him. He rebalanced himself and sat down. Most of the boats were taking off by now. Fishrudder was just crawling into his when he saw Raen run up. Aral was in a different boat so Fishrudder waited for Raen to get into his.
OOC: Really random post, sorry, but I am multi-tasking, and not very well...

"Hey look another person!" Aldar was sitting next to Fishrudder, ready for the trip. "The more the better I guess. Have a seat." Aldar looked at another spot next to him.

OOC: Hey, no spamming.
BIC: Archon nodded to Dantin as he pushed the boat off with some effort. "Hey," he grunted while forcing the vessel into the water. "This is the most inconvenient way I've ever crossed a river." At this point he started rowing. Although slow, the current might have taken them a bit downstream had Archon not angled the boat against the constant force of the water. "Wish we had a bridge."

How's it inconvenient? **Sinthin murmured as he silently rowed behind Archon**

"We have these ferries and I could walk faster than one of them. Wouldn't it be better to have a bridge going across the river?" Archon felt like he was doing all the work but said nothing. He didn't mind anyway.

"Well, why don't we have a bridge? It doesn't make any sense, those things aren't the hardest to make... The only problem I can think of is that it'd block ship traffic, and I have an idea for that, too." Thus the sunken-bridge concept. Archon felt he deserved a pat on the back for this one.

Raen climbed into Aral's boat, listening to Archon rant about the need for a bridge. He was tempted to make a remark, but decided against it. After all, Raen didn't know any of them very well. Taking hold of the oars, he joined the others in rowing.

Aral's ship slowly kicked off. It started going steadily across the river, as did Fishrudder's and Sinthin's.
Sinthin asked Archon "What do you mean?"

"I mean, we could have a moving bridge. Think of a pair of chains across the river, with bars going between them, wooden slats, perhaps, coated in metal... No supports along the river itself, it's all on the chains, the ends of which are firmly fixed in either bank.. These chains would be far too long to be taut, and the bridge would be laid down along the river floor. But when you wanted to cross, you could pull up the chains from where they're attached so that the bridge is drawn taut, fix the newly repositioned chains in place and then you could cross. ...Y'know, generally it's Linx who thinks of these things..." The suspsended bridge concept could work, with large enough chains, but that, of course wasn't the issue. The issue was actually getting this idea in motion. Now that it was in Archon's head he doubted it would be leaving any time soon, and perhaps it would become a new way to let beasts easily cross the river but also let ships by as well.

Well, we have the otters that could do it. But wouldn't it be really heavy, and leave a gap for the vermin to get in? **Sinthin said**
OOC: Let's move this ahead soon
Sorry Dantin...

OOC: I'm so sorry 'bout not getting on in forever and a day... I've been all sick and stuff... urg
BIC: *Dantin thought about the idea of bridge made like that, he was in a boat with some random otter that he didn't know. They where near enough to Archon's boat and Fishrudder's boat to hear the conversation and he decided to put in his thoughts.
"Well, unless the vermin actually saw us using the bridge, they probably would be too dull to figure out what it's for. They would probably just look at it and wonder why there was two chains stuck in the ground and falling into the river. One problem, however; wouldn't the metal used for it start to rust, being underwater all the time and stuff?"

"Let's say it's copper... In which case, not very quickly," Linx replied to Dantin across boats. Then he returned to Sinthin. "No, it wouldn't be that heavy, actually. The wood would actually be buoyant, and the copper encasing it would be just enough to make it a bit heavier than the water around it. Remember, it's not bridging air, it's bridging water, which could support it a lot." He glanced at Dantin before continuing. "Besides, the extra chain would be on our side of the river, the south bank, where the dock is and all."
