Aldar had taken the time to do everything he needed to accomplish that day, So he could take a stroll around the shoreline of the Sea. Aldar strolled up to the rock hard sand, frozen because of the freezing water forming together with it. He had found a piece of driftwood to sit on while watching the rolling waves drift in and out. Temperatures were a lot warmer today, and many other beasts decided to do the same and run down to the beaches, some even with dibbuns now. Aldar took a seat on the driftwood and waited to see what fate had planned for him to do today.

There were never a lot of hedgehogs at Otter's Fort to start with, so when Linx saw one from a distance sitting on a chunk of driftwood by the coast, he had a pretty good idea of who it was. Aldar again... Why does he have to keep tantalizing me by existing all over the place and then refusing me? After some internal debating, the mouse decided to walk over and greet him. Crushing his inner feelings of nervousness, he casually walked up behind the hedgehog and cleared his throat. "Aldar. Didn't expect to see you here."

"Oh hey Linx what are you doing around here?" Aldar turned to face Linx, but still kept an eye on the Sea. It was always very relaxing to watch.

"Just going for a walk. This place looks pretty different in the winter." The overcast light put a bluish tint on the normally strictly beige sand, as if the colors of the ocean had fled onto the land. Linx felt a brittle film of ice on the sand's surface crack as he walked along it, approaching the hedgehog's side. He was tempted to sit down next to Aldar but eventually decided against it, standing by the piece of driftwood and watching the waves burst against the sand, bringing in a surge of seaweed, shells and debris each time.
"Great place to be at this time of year. I know many would disagree with me, but it's so different at this time of year it's worth going to... Although it is absolutely freezing." Linx had never been one to dress in heavy clothing. The extent of his trappings at this time consisted of a jacket over his short-sleeve shirt, and the wind bit through it like it wasn't even there. Aldar was looking more and more appealing by the second, but he did his best to disregard this and try to have a normal conversation.

"Yeah your right, there is nothing to do in the winter." Aldar picked up a rock a chucked it as far as he could into the Sea. "Hmmm not that far this time... Hey see that ship over there? Its heading this way."

"It's a trade ship. Heading up to the estuary, see how it's coming in at an angle? We get them practically daily here, they're so frequent..." Linx watched the cargo vessel heading towards the mouth of the River Moss, not very far north of their current position. "Not often you catch one out on the sea, though."

"You can have a light weapon the main deck, say, a small ballista, and it won't really weigh you down or take up cargo space. And it's always handy for fending off pirates... A good bolt to under the waterline and you can cripple a typical corsair ship." Linx looked down and sideways at Aldar with a mixed expression on his face. He was feeling a number of things right then, and the number was too large for comfort... Happiness at the ability to help Aldar with his question, regret of how Aldar didn't want... No. Shut up. He doesn't want it. Best thing you can do is not push it.

"What, a ballista? Those things have been around for ages. Traditional weapons there, especially for ships."

"Really I meant the ship itself, doesnt look like vermin are even going to be around any longer if we keep inventing these things."

"What are you talking about? I'm talking about that trade ship over there. The one with the hull, and the sails. Yeah, that ship." Linx pointed sarcastically to the ship moving up to the river.

"Ugh never mind." I should probably go now, ill see you later." At that Aldar got up and walked back up the beach back to the fort.
