*Lore the otter stood on the training grounds, waiting for a sparring partner. After the fiasco with Vengo the wildcat, in which Lore ended up badly wounded, Lore decided some training was necessary, so that there would not be a repeat of that scene again. She had her sword held in one paw and her dagger in the other, waiting for someone to arrive*

**Irian walked in, she was new to the fort, and the two of them had immediately hit off together (Just go with it). They had decided to train together. Irian was new to a sword and had gotten one from Stealth's old shop, along with several other weapons, including two rapiers, two sabers, four small axes, two maces and two pairs of iron claws, she brought them all so they could train with them. She asked Lore** What should we start with?

You take what you want. *Lore grinned* I'm ready for anything. I on the other hand think that one of these sabers will do its job excellently, and with a flourish on top of that. *Laying aside her sword and dagger for the moment, Lore picked up one of the sabers and began twirling it around idly* Ready when you are.

**She looked over the weaponry she had brought, some looked to brutish for her, so she chose the rapier and said** I guess, in the words of Fishrudder, Let's fight **She grinned and held her sword awkwardly in front of her

*Noting the way Irian was holding the sword, Lore looked at her and asked* New to weaponry, are you? Anyway, let's go. *Lore took on a defensive stance, effective against sudden attacks, and waited for Irian to make a move*

Ya, could you help me a bit? This is training, and you have been weilding weapons longer then I have, I'm comfortable with a sling, but that's it.

A sling can be a good enough weapon, if used in the right circumstance. Nevertheless, with a sword, you want it to feel like an extension of yourself. *Using the saber she had chosen, Lore demonstrated this idea by taking a casual yet firm grip on the handle.* It has to feel comfortable, or your attacks will lack power. *Lore swung outwards and up with the blade. Then, she struck out at a low bush, lopping off one of the branches, as if to illustrate her point. She shrugged and said* That's just the way I'm used to using one of these. Regardless of whether it's a sword, a spear, or a dagger, to me, a weapon is an extension of myself. Do you know what I mean?

Ya, I think so, **She took the rapier (Note: stabbing weapon, point it out to her) and started swinging it, using her flexability to manuever it in circles, that is, until she pricked her foot** ouch, didn't mean to do that **Her foot started to bleed a bit**

Be careful there! *Lore rushed over* You'll want to be more careful. A rapier is a weapon built for stabbing, not necessarily for swinging. *Lore tore off a piece of her clothes and wrapped it around Irian's paw* You're fortunate. That was only a prick. Swords are dangerous if not used carefully. *Lore paused before continuing* So, you'll want to learn how to wield that properly. Hold its handle like this. *Lore demonstrated, by holding it in front of her with a semi-relaxed grip* When you attack, tense up and that will help with the power of your attack. Now, try striking out at me, if you will.

**Irian thanked Lore for wrapping up her foot and took the sword in a relaxed grip and stabbed forward by straightening her elbow joint**

*Lore was pleasantly surprised. For being relatively inexperienced, Irian seemed to be learning quickly. Lore stepped slightly to the side, and avoided the blade, but narrowly* That was excellent for a first try, Irian. If I had not had my wits about me, I'd have at least received a minor wound. Good job. Want to try attacking again?

Attacking seems easy enough, mostly stabbing with this weapon, how about blocking?

Blocking is rather straightforward as well. It depends on the direction your opponent is coming from however. If I came at you with a diagonal left attack, you'd want to hold your blade at a slant. If I came from a diagonal right, you'd do the same thing, just reversed. And if I attacked with a low slash, you'd want to make sure that you didn't leave yourself open. Same for if I attacked with a high slash. Make sense so far?
(OOC) I don't actually know a lot about swordfighting...

OOC: Just make it up, I know enough to compensate BIC: Ok, can you give me a slow attack OOC: After your post and then mine we will skip to time until we are actually fighting

(OOC) Right.
(BIC) A slow attack it is then. *Lore drew her saber forth and advanced slowly towards Irian. She came from the left, concentrating on aiming a downward slash that was slow enough for Irian's skill level*
