"Don't be so sure..." Linx had an idea there. But that would be down the road. As would be the possibility of Ellich shutting down his business, of course.

Linx bit his lip as he searched for something to say. Ellich had put a big dent in his life at the fort and there was no getting around that, but he still felt compelled to help out. "...If it counts for anything, I still like you."

"Redwall? We have routes there and all, but... You have a life here. And... If you left... I'd miss you a lot." That was possibly the most genuine statement Linx had made throughout the entire conversation. Ellich had imposed himself on the mouse's life very quickly and very intensely. Recent events had only strengthened this. If Ellich were to leave after giving Linx such a clear feeling of identity... I'm more like him than he thinks.

"Yeah your right. Maybe I will stay here... for now at least. Otter's fort means to much to me to leave like that. But, if the shop has to be shut down I will pretty much have to move to redwall." Ellich sighed "I sure hope that doesnt happen."

"I'll do what I can..." Even if it meant dipping into his little fortune to keep Ellich going. He knew that the squirrel was, at heart, a good beast... And didn't deserve that. "Really, I will."

Linx followed suit after about three minutes of staring. The squirrel was just too peaceful-looking not to follow into the realm of dreams.

*Next day* Ellich yawned to greet the early morning sun. *rumble grumble* "Ugh I'm starving... heh not like I can get anything." Ellich laughed a little bit at his own misfortune. "Well nothing left to do except relax." Well at least my whole entire body doesn't hurt anymore..

Linx stirred at the sound of Ellich's voice. His eyes opened, slowly, and he rubbed them while looking around the room. "Uh... Hi. Morning already. Wow."

"heh I guess so. Well witherway g'morning to ya. Maybe today I can get these chains off eh? Not likely though..." Ellich was happy that Linx awoke the same time he did.

"I'll ask about it when someone with the key comes along... Good morning, though. Good to see you're still sane and all," Linx commented, grinning. Where are the medics?

Hey, there's one! KEY! KEY!!! "Excuse me..." Linx cleared his throat while he waited for the medic to acknowledge him. "Could you unlock this one's chains?"
The medic in question gave him a puzzled look. First day on and a CAPTAIN is yelling at me... "Er... Isn't he, erm, crazy?"
Linx sighed and looked up at the ceiling. He had a lot to debunk. "No, he is not crazy, well, not at the moment, at any rate. You have a coherent beast here, and there's guards posted anyway."
