Dengoro didn't expect to get his own room. ...If you could call it a room. It looked like it had originally been a larger room split in half by a partition, and someone else was occupying the other half. The remaining half was barely wide enough to hold the sideways-facing bed at the far end and barely far enough in to let him open the door. Once inside, though, he realized that it was actually large enough to spend nights in anyway, even if it wouldn't be comfortable to live much in it. A freshly cleaned, four-pane window just above the bed allowed sunlight to stream in onto the plain wooden floor, giving him more than enough light to drop everything off.
'Everything' was a rather vague term. Having soared through the prerequisite testing that had been set up for skipping basic training, he was permitted to have some of his own belongings in the room with him. The cloth bag he had almost forgotten about over his shoulder was quickly emptied and the contents thereof distributed into the plain, utilitarian drawers built into the frame of his bed. Dengoro had actually brought only a few of his belongings with him, planning to stay here when needed and head out to his home in the village whenever possible.
Once everything was put away, the skunk realized he had no more to do in the room and promptly left, careful to take a key with him. His steel-soled boots clunked heavily against the floor as he walked down the hallway to the stairs which, as he had learned, would lead him back to the barracks. Bringing his long, black coat that reached down well past his knees around his entire front to help try and warm himself up, Dengoro headed towards the stairs and was mildly surprised to find that he wasn't alone in this part of the fort.
