Not neccesarily. I see it more as projecting myself into new bodies...

Hmm. I have played characters far different from myself in the past. Of course, in each case I was pretty much amplifying one facet or other of my personality to make an entirely new one centered around it...

I'm not very good at rping characters that don't reflect me....

That takes a lot of work to do. I've been RPing since age seven and it's still a challenge.

I find that with characters, you have to fully define them before you start roleplaying with them. For instance, with Finnerator, for a long time, I never really figured her out and consequently my roleplaying was inconsistent. Whereas with other characters I didn't just start spontaneously posting with them, but rather I really thought them through. Then I did the same with Finnerator and now it's way easier to RP. I don't think it matters if you base a character of yourself or not. I've done both and it's worked fine either way. I think what matters is how you build the character and how you let the character develop. Does that make any sense?

Yes. You can't just start... What I had to do with Linx was, since I never really thought him out, do a lot of RPing just for the sake of defining him. As for Archon, I had learned by then.

Exactly. So, Fishrudder, did you want to practice rping with emotions then? What kind of setting were you thinking of?

i'll like to help too. I'm pretty good at rping emotions in charactor, but how good? that's what i do n't know. so, can we still go with the group of travelers that get attacked by a group of vermin from Warrior's fort? (i may have to ask terg though, if we can use some of his vermin )

No, we were thinking of something that was less physical and worked more on character development than sparring.

Well, that works sparring... Again. Something non-combative, perhaps?

Just post a miscellaneous thread in the training grounds. Maybe something along the lines of your character standing somewhere. A good way to start that off would be to simply describe the scene. Is it a forest? What is the weather like? What time of day is it?

How about a tavern thread? That's a classic way to exercise a character's personality. I'd rather do something more original than that, but if that's all we've got...

yeah. Great idea. When i was thinking of the group of travlers sparring each other for other's entertainment, it was non combative. Just for fun... Anyways...
