Aldar Twinspike the hedgehog needed some supplies, and the only store that seemed to be open was the crazy squirrel's place. It was always open. Aldar strolled up to the store only to find the door slightly open. "Hey what do you know a sack full of money...eh whats this?" Aldar had found the note that Ellich had wrote.... "Hmmm looks like Linx should read this... and there he is right there. "Hey Linx look at this!"

Linx walked in to find the money. And a letter, which he scanned over while his mind shifted into tactics mode. "I see... Don't touch the money." He's equipped, can't climb. He'll hit the routes... He could do the beach but that's a dead end and we'd be seeing very plain tracks from that anyway. No way he's going east, the route to Redwall is far too indirect. He could be going up the River Moss but the bank is so treacherous I'd rule it out immediately. No, he's going south. And I'll get to test my running ability now. "Thanks for telling me about this. Could you let Archon know I'll be out for the day?"

Aldar quickly got his paw away from the money. "Bugger I wanted that... All right Ill tell him, but you are definatly not going without me mate. He has the only general store thats even open during these days. Shouldnt we bring supplies and other things? Sounds like we will be looking for him for a while.... wait... isnt it your birthday tomorow? You'll miss it!"

"No, I won't... I'll be back by then." Just remember to pack a CLOS. And medical materials for treating bullet wounds. That'll be all for special stuff... "I know where he is. I'll get him back, but I'll be running pretty much the whole way and I doubt you have that kind of cardiac endurance. Just tell Archon I'll be gone for a bit, OK?" Linx was all set to walk out the door.

"I already told you mate. Im coming with and thats final." Aldar quickly ran up to catch up to Linx. "Besides if he's taking the woods I will know that place like the back of my hand." Aldar picked up his speed to be a little in front of Linx.

"He's taking the woods..." Linx had his CLOS on him... Scratch the supplies. He had a water skin anyway. "But not the actual woods. He's got supplies, and that means he'll be too weighed down to do anything but a packed-down path. I'd be able to track him if he took the woods anyway. He's gonna take the trade route south and I'll be able to follow him straight down. You can try and come along if you want... But bring your own water." Linx was heading to the gates now. He'd be out and running in no time, and was warming up with a brisk walk already.

"Hmmm this should suffice. Aldar saw that inside Ellich's shop was a nice water container. "Ill use that. Aldar ran back inside the store then went back to catch up with Linx. "Wow you are really serious about this squirrel. What do you want with him anyway?"

"Let me put it this way... When he walked out of the fort he walked out of my room." Signaling to the guard, Linx watched the gates open just enough for him to pass through. And pass he did.

"Whoa dont close that door on me! Aldar picked up his speed to get through the door before the guard closed it again. "Walked out of your?...... oh....."
Meanwhile Ellich had been traveling for about twelve hours, and he was pretty exausted. Ellich went off the main path about a quarter mile then made a shelter. He didnt wasnt to make a fire until he made it to at least another family of animals, and he didnt want to take chances with vermin. Ellich settled down, ate some fruit and got some rest.

Linx broke into a jog as soon as he was out the gates. He might not be relying on visual bur rather olfactory input to tell him where Ellich was... Squirrels had a distinctive smell and Ellich's was detectable from a good distance away... If the wind was right. Now was no time for speech, though. He controlled his breathing and forced himself not to talk.

Aldar did the same. He knew Linx was being very serious about this, so he should be too. After about and hour of jogging and running Aldar started to get tired. "Whoo what a run eh?"

Linx didn't respond. He was too busy ignoring the burning in his chest and legs and pretty much his entire body, and just keeping up the pace. And his low red blood cell count did nothing to help. This was a will he doubted he had, the will to keep going, but it was powered by a fire far stronger than the one in his body could ever get. That of love.
Half an hour in, Linx slowed gradually to a halt, so he could pop the metal lid off his water skin and grab a swig, giving Aldar a moment to follow suit before resuming.

"Heh that water hits the spot." Aldar payed close attention to Linx. To much strain on his body would eventually make Linx's body collapse. He had to be careful and always had to remind him to drink water. After about an hour and a half they would need a break.

It occurred to Linx that Aldar hadn't told anyone where they were, but there was no backing out now. The most he could do was get back as soon as possible... With Ellich. They continued running for an hour and a half, then took another break. At this point, Linx removed his jacket and tied its arms around his waist.

"Linx drink some water." Aldar was panting in between words. "Whooo... this is getting really hard eh?" Aldar sat himself down on a rock that was on the side of the trail.
