The soldiers had gotten too lazy of late, it was time to whip them into shape. A tall muscular otter stepped out of the barracks and set out at a brisk jog towards the other commanders house, Linx. A few minutes later he was in the village section of Otter's Fort. He looked for Linx's house and found it. He knocked at the door and waited for one of the numerous occupants of the house to answer

Surprisingly enough, it was Linx who answered. He hadn't expected Fishrudder to be visiting and was rather scantily clad in his summer wear– black shorts and a matching, open-fur vest– which was actually sufficient in the noticeably warm interior of the house. He sighed in relief upon seeing who had knocked on the door. Time to tell him about his wonderful soldiers. And how bad that training is. "Oh, it's you... You and I need to talk. Right now."

OOC: Haha, 1,000 Topic IC: Fishrudder was dressed in a shirt that had it's sleeves cut off, meant for summer wear, and loose fitting pants. "I need to talk to you too, mind if I come in? The training program needs revamped, their aren't as many vermin around here as there used to be. That used to hold the troops over, but now it's not."

OOC: Give me time and I'll do a 10,000th post.
BIC: "Your basic training program is awful," Linx stated flatly as he gestured for Fishrudder to enter. He had surveyed a few sessions himself and was frankly appalled. If the fort was to maintain its reputation as a military powerhouse, things had to change. "I mean... The running test is three quarters of a mile with no minimum time limit! How is that even a test?"

OOC: Lol, ok, get on AIM IC: First of all, I watch that, it's fine, I keep track of it myself, they don't do it in a time that is appropriate then they work on it, don't worry about that. The upkeep needs more work then the basic part.

"No, no... The basic training takes too little time before they become regular soldiers. Once that's the case, they could get killed in action before they're refined enough to survive. It's just three weeks... It could be three months and it wouldn't hurt. The training time is just too short." Linx took a short breath for continuing. It was enough to get him enough air to speak further, but not long enough for Fishrudder to say anything while he was doing it. "As for maintaining training, well, regular drills rule."

"I was wondering if you wanted to help me with the maintaining, as for the basic training, I need help, there are to many coming in for me to extensivly train, we need more trainers. Maybe we should pull some veterns out of active service and put them in charge of training, what do you say to that?"

"I say that's a good idea, for the most part. They may need some work from us on how to train, after all." Linx headed out into the middle of the room and glanced at the far doorway. "If you're gonna stay for a while, could I get you something to drink, or...?" Funny... We both started talking about exactly the same thing. Wonder how that happened.

OOC: Cuz we planned it....
Lol
IC: Sure, what do you have? **The river otter followed the athletic mouse into the room and glanced around, it was well furnished.** "Who should we choose? Aral might be a good one, though we should leave him in active service, he's still pretty young."
OOC: Remember I made Fishy 36

"It's your job to pick out the trainers, not mine... Hopefully, you'll do it well, or you'll get sacked. As for drinks, well, just about anything that won't get you drunk is available, so-" Linx was cut off by the sound of someone descending the stairway at the side of the room. Surprised, he turned on one heel to see who it was.
It was Archon, dressed in garb similar to Linx but without the vest. He obviously didn't expect company, and froze on the spot upon spotting Fishrudder. "Oh... Hi. Didn't know it was you down here..."

**Fishrudder chuckled and said** It's fine, I expect no less from this house. **He turned to Linx and said** Still, thought your opinion would be nice, so I didn't get Sacked. As for the drink, water?

"Sure, one second. I'll go get some from the sink..." Linx headed to the kitchen without a further word. Running water was an extremely local blessing that he could no longer imagine living without. Cold water from turning a knob! How good do you get?
Archon was left standing awkwardly in the middle of the room and looking at Fishrudder. "Wait, you expect no less? No, you should expect less. You're lucky I was modest-feeling enough to put these on..."

"Well, that doesn't fit this house's rules... OK, yeah, I'll be scantily clad, assuming I have anything more than my fur on me..." Archon bounded over to one of the room's several couches and jumped onto its roomy surface, stretching out in an unbelievably provocative display of leisure. "And I am so tired I think I'm gonna just fall asleep right now."
