Dengoro advanced slowly, wary due to his own lack of armor or even heavy armament. He only had ten more bullets left for his CLOS and didn't want to get rid of them all that quickly, but this left him with nothing but a blade. A few tense seconds passed as he scanned the brush in front of him, then something hard hit him in the abdomen and he was on his back. As it turned out, it was the shoulder of a massive ferret wielding a flail, which was, at that time, spinning down through the air at him.

"Oh no you don't!"
With little concern for his own safty, Lars leped in the way of the flail, aiming to block it with one arm, while he stabbed forwards at the ferret's heart with his sword in the other paw.

Dengoro had his own sword in paw and had to frantically move it downwards as he swung it to avoid hitting Lars. After rolling sideways to get out of the flail's path, he lashed out at the back of the ferret's ankles and was rewarded with a loud cry and a buckling body as one of his attacker's calcaneal tendon was severed. It did mean that the mouse above him was prevented from accurately making a lethal blow as the ferret fell. "Lars, I'm fine!"

"AGH!"
The instant before the ferret fell, his flail impacted on the mouse's shoulder joint, causing a rather painful "crack" to be heard. The instant the ferret hit the gorund, Lars thrust his sword at the vermin's heart again, trying his hardest to not give into the pain running along the injured arm.

Dengoro heard a second crack as the sword broke straight through one of the ferret's ribs. Seeing as their last opponent had been neutralized rather conspicuously, the skunk rose to examine Lars with concern, flicking the blood off his blade before sheathing it. At least the rake sword hadn't gone in far enough to trap any of the cut-outs; that had the potential to be messy. "Are you all right?"

"M... My shoulder... I think... I think it's broken...
Not letting go of his sword to clutch his shoulder, the mouse pulled the blade free and held it ready in case any more vermin were about to step out and attack the pair.

Dengoro didn't think anyone would even try to attack them after they'd so quickly dispatched the ferret who was now creating a large pool of blood on the ground, which the skunk had to step away from to keep his boots clean. He looked over Lars as closely as he could to see if the skin had been broken by displaced bone. "Lars... I'm not actually a medic, but your shoulder is... Messed up." This guy's family breaks so many bones!

"You don't say... Try being on the recieving end of the pain and THEN tell me my shoulder's messed up."
The injury didn't seem to have affected the mouse's sarcatic wit too much... But what Lars didn't tell Dengoro was that one of the spikes in the flail was actually lodged in the back of his shoulder, having broken off in the impact.

It became apparent about the time Dengoro noticed the blood seeping into sight. He had to suppress a gasp of surprise upon seeing it, but reacted nonetheless. "Hey!... You have... Lars, you're bleeding. Bad. Come on." Not wanting to waste any more time than they already had, he took the mouse by his uninjured arm and started to walk, briskly. They had to get back to the sickbay and have the wound treated, and any fragments removed.

"This is why I didn't tell you I was bleeding... I haven't even put my sword away yet."
Keeping the flat of his sword between himself and Dengoro, Lars was doing his best to not inflict any more wounds, either on himself or on his friend.

"I don't really care about your one-edged sword that's way out there in your paw, regardless of how expensive it is," Dengoro snapped in frantic exasperation. Lars was hurt and he wasn't actually making it easier by spending his energy on his mouth instead of his legs. Moreover, his revolvers were still empty and that was a liability that he couldn't even address.

"You'd care if it ended up hitting you with the cutting edge, which I'm trying to avoid right now."
Biting his lip to try and distract himself from the pain, Lars reversed his hold on his blade and got the tip to be pointing behind him, so as to definatly not hit himself or Dengoro.

"Yeah, well, that isn't happening. Can you sheath that?" It was a sincere question. Dengoro wasn't sure if the break in Lars' shoulder would noticeably immobilize his arm or not. Apparently, that wasn't the case, as the mouse had just reversed the direction of the blade; still, it was worth asking as opposed to directly requesting his putting the sword away.

"If you loose your grip on my arm a moment, I will be able to... I need to be able to raise my arm to sheath my sword."
Still trying to keep pace with Dengoro, without jolting his injured arm too much, Lars winced every time his foot came down heavily, and sent a jolt of pain through his shoulder.

The skunk promptly withdrew his arm and slowed his pace slightly. He wanted to be able to view Lars from behind and catch him if the mouse actually slowed down. Despite all that was going on right then, he couldn't help but notice how appealing Lars was from that angle. "So be it... Just get it out of the air."
