Wondering down the riverside, Lars marveled at how quiet it was. It wasn't like he was expecting trouble, but he was carrying his rake sword at his waist just in case.
"It's a real slow day today... Ugh... I hate slow days... They're so... Boring!"

"Does that mean I should shoot at you?" Dengoro had a tendency to not be seen, which was an oddity considering his blatantly contrasting black and white appearance. He held a CLOS in either paw but had his fingers off the triggers. He didn't actually plan to do that to the mouse. "Hey, Lars..."

Dengoro holstered both of his revolvers and walked up to Lars. His new, silver-rimmed glasses glinted brightly in the sunlight, making them rather obvious on his face. Besides that, though, they blended in well with his fur. "Like the glasses? I got 'em out of a need to stop being nearsighted. Not sure how that happened, but... I'm nearsighted. Did you know that?"

"I never knew that... But they look nice. They suit you quite a lot you know."
Giving the glasses a quick, yet detailed and thourough once over, Lars smiled properly at his friend.
"So... What brings you out here today?"

"Uh... My legs..." Dengoro looked down at his black pants that might as well have not been there; they just made his black-furred legs a bit wider-looking from the lower thighs down. He had little reason to be out there, but he had little reason to be anywhere at all. "I wanted to go on a walk and perhaps destroy the odd vermin. Wait, I'm technically a vermin myself, better put one under my chin."

Stretching his arms and legs out of sheer boredom, Lars kept an ear out for anything moving nearby.
"Not the only one out hunting today though."

"I wouldn't call it hunting," Dengoro sighed. "I'm going out for a walk. I don't intend to throw away my bullets on vermin around here, if there are any left..." He gave Lars a cursory visual examination, noting the mouse's armament. Hunting, as it was called at the fort, was something he found to be rather detestable, as it was far more aggressive than an actual patrol. There was little to be done about its being conducted off duty, of course. "Not bullets, you see... Vermin."

"Nor do I actually expect to encounter any today... I think they might be hiding..."
The sound of movement in the bushes caused Lars' ears to twitch as they caught the sound.
"Or then again... Maybe they were trying to ambush us..."
Freeing the sword from it's scabbard at his hip, Lars glanced round almost casually.
"Shall we get to work?"

"If you wanna call it that." Dengoro heard the sound of movement the same time Lars did. He drew one CLOS and pointed it at the source of the noise, not wanting to pull the trigger until the source of it was a threat. After a few seconds, he drew his second weapon and held it at his side, in case the enemy was actually elsewhere. "Sure it's combatants?..."

Twirling the sword in his paw a few times, Lars held it ready in one paw, cutting edge away from himself, while the other was resting against the back of the blade.
"Whoever you are, this is your only warning! Come out now, and peacefully and you won't get hurt."

Dengoro heard the noise of a bow twanging and instinctively ducked sideways into Lars to prevent the implicit from hitting either of them. He had his right paw in front of him and pulling the CLOS' trigger as he moved, and heard the two bullets he dispatched imbedding themselves in unarmored flesh above the weapon's loud and admittedly smoky reports. "Lars-!" The mouse was apparently unhurt, but he had no way to tell as he scanned the treeline for more opposition.

"Umph!"
Having just had the wind knocked out of him by the skunk, Lars was struggling to get back up and get his breath back... Which he managed to do a few moments before another arrow sailed past and burried it's tip next to his head.
"Not friendlies... Definatly hostiles."
Quickly getting to his feet again, he kept an eye out round the trees for the shadow of movement, or the glint of a weapon.
"I can't see anything in the shadows, you?"

"I love bows," Dengoro sighed in exasperation as he scanned around. "No matter how stealthy they make they users... They always lose against brute force." Apparently, there were two, or more, of the enemy. He raised both of his weapons and emptied the cylinders in the general direction of the second bowstring's sound. A body hitting the ground, as well as a scream of pain, was audible with the second to last shot.

"Come on... Save some for me too... I'd hate to be left without at least one foe to fight in a level fight."
Glancing to his left, Lars caught some more movemnt in the bushes, right before another arrow went flying right past him, carving a shallow furrow in his arm's fur as it did so.
"Some to the left too. Bet you there's some to the right as well."
