"Uh, probably my room... To put these shoes away," Dengoro mumbled, thoroughly confused about his current location within the market square but aware of the fort's general direction. Just... Go to the really high wall that isn't far away. He started walking in this direction, clutching the shoes in his arms like a traumatized, widowed mother carrying a baby.

Certainly can't go with him there, Briala thought wryly as he continued to walk. She caught up with him, reaching into her bag for her money purse. Just as well leave too. I'm almost broke. "Do you mind if I walk back with you to the fort?" she asked politely, working extra hard not to scare him again. "I haven't been here before, and I have no idea where it is." As if to confirm this, she glanced around again, frowning slightly as she realized she still had no idea where they were. That's not good...

"OK, sure, whatever. I just want to... Go put my shoes in my room." Dengoro didn't even turn his head to make eye contact with Briala, not that he would have under other circumstances. He had a clear goal now and to achieve it he'd just keep up with the robotic walking until he made it to the fort. Since the direct path to the gates wasn't clear to the skunk at that time, he was just moving in its general direction; it may have led him into a dead end, but he didn't seem to care.

"Okay, that's a reasonable goal," Briala said conversationally, following behind Dengoro. However, she couldn't walk normal for more than 30 seconds without getting bored. Soon she began humming and skipping around, and still popping up at different stalls to examine their wares for a moment before moving on. Suddenly, she ground to a halt.
"Ooooh, pretty!" she murmured, gazing in rapt attention at...a necklace. Normally, she didn't like jewlery; it got in the way when she was fighting. But this was different. It was a coiled snake, that exactly matched the one that decorated the hilt of each of her daggers. and, just like her daggers, it had an emerald stone clasped in its mouth, and it's eyes were green stones too. The body was silver, with delicately etched scales.
Briala rarely saw anything with snakes. Most creatures feared them, and had a right to. But she found them absolutely fascinating and interesting creatures, and wasn't afraid to show it.
