Linx didn't show any visible reaction. He had none inside, either, except for a slight twinge at the idea of a fox and wolf. "Uh-huh... Use your discretion, I guess?" His answer would have been the same no matter what the species.

I think there is a part of him that is good, but still, beneath that is the potential to be a killer. I've thought of leaving him somewhere, but I think if I did that, the potential I spoke of would be unleashed, and I would not inflict that on anyone. So, I remain with him. He also has warned me that if ever I deserted him... Well, you should get the idea. *Despite Lore's calm face, an almost imperceptible quiver shook her, which she quickly suppressed*

"Don't worry, most people go vengeful on those who betray them... Not like I haven't been around killers, either. I grew up around them." Linx was taken back to a childhood where his family was rampant with murders of beasts both outside and inside itself. His grip imperceptibly slackened on his CAR's handle.

Once, I saw what happened to a village of mice and hedgehogs who took Skyrl in. They grew fearful of his ways and turned him out. One night, Skyrl took his revenge. The next morning, all that was left was some broken huts and many.... Many pieces. He tore them to shreds. *Lore paused* When I met him, you could not tell his true nature. He was almost normal then. I took up company with him and thought nothing of it. But as the years passed, his mental state deteriorated. To be honest, I am almost afraid of him now. But I can't leave him either. You see, I know what he is, but he was the only one I had after I left my village. Call it foolish, but I have a liking out of gratitude for him still.

"I'm not calling you foolish... I know what that's like. You're not about to just sever all your ties with him, that's impossible." Linx started carrying his CAR normally again. They were sure covering a lot of distance.

You really don't consider it unwise? Whenever Skyrl and I took a chance and stopped in villages, nearly all of the villagers would pull me aside and berate me for being a fool. I always thought they were the fools. They never seemed to understand what our relationship - *Lore stopped abruptly. She was telling Linx too much. If she did bring Skyrl here, and he somehow found out that she had divulged so much information, Skyrl's rage would be unstoppable. She would end up dead, most likely, but also, so would Linx and maybe even everyone in the Fort. There was no possibility of her letting that happen* I'm sorry, I've said too much. Now, these flatlands... They seem quiet enough. *Lore was trying to divert the subject. She just hoped it worked, and that Linx would not guess what she was thinking*

So much for that one. A dibbun could see through Lore's attempted save. "The fort is more secure than Salamandastron, if lacking in all the secret passages and nice coastal view. Worst-case scenario, he goes psychotic on me and I have to put one in his knee." Linx took his paw off the foregrip again, this time to pat the CLOS slung on his belt.

*Despite herself and her worries, Lore could not help grinning at Linx's words* I would give all the coins I have to see that happen. *She laughed, but it was restrained* Skyrl would not put up with that, though.

"Have you ever had a .475 slug in your kneecap? You can't so much as stand up, even if it didn't hurt like hellgates all over again. When you're as well-armed as I am, things seem to be less threatening..." Linx held up his CAR for a moment before returning to holding it normally. "Especially angry vermin."

Perhaps.. Perhaps Skyrl wouldn't be able to do so much damage after all. Especially with you and your CAR around. *An inexplicable tone of admiration tinged Lore's voice. She was beginning to like this Linx creature. Too bad he and Archon were so... Involved. Then, Lore became aware of her thoughts and immediately suppressed them. She had no interest in that kind of thing, she told herself firmly*

"You know, one of these would cost an arm and a leg, maybe two arms and a leg and a half with ammunition..." Linx chuckled dryly before continuing. "I don't want to sound like a marketer right now, but if you want something like this but more affordable, you could always go pump-action, you know, the original bolt repeater... Somewhere between this and a crossbow, really." The original bolt repeater was no longer in service. He was referring to its successor, a pump-action, spring-powered, magazine-fed, aluminum bolt-firing weapon surprisingly similar in appearance to the CAR, with the only major differences in the magazine and foregrip, which was the cocking lever in the repeater's case.
OOC: In case you don't know already, CAR stands for Compressed Air Repeater.

The CAR is an interesting weapon, but I think I am better suited for the more traditional ones. No offense meant, by the way. Weapons are, as a rule, of interest to me, but for me to actually use one of your... advanced ones... Well, it would be rather like a fish living out of water, so to speak.
(OOC) Thanks.

"They aren't all this... Complex. At least give it a try, really, drop my my shop sometime. I'd love to show you around." That last sentence sounded oddly like something he had told Archon some months before. Linx made a mental note to not continue that trend.
OOC: Really, you might want to check it out OOC, I just updated and organized it too.

Why not head that direction now? I would be interested in actually seeing one of your creations. That is, if you are not otherwise occupied. *Lore had her own reasons for wanting to see the CAR, but she did not give voice to them yet*
(OOC) I'll be sure to do that.

"I have two on me, and seeing any others means going back to the fort. What do you want to do?" Linx was open to previewing his creations at work. The pneumatic ones had such expensive ammo that their demonstrations weren't free, though.
