*Lore Winde stands in the garden area, gazing at some flowers. A bright smile is on her face, and as she stands there, she raises her head to look at the sky, and revels in the beauty around her. As she is engrossed in her "private moment", someone approaches from behind*

"Sorry, this a bad moment?" Linx took a step back, involuntarily. This new arrival seemed very... Peaceful. Of course, that couldn't be the case at such a military establishment, but it was nice to see someone appearing so serene. "I don't think I've seen you here before..."

*Lore turned slowly around, a trifle peeved at her moment of solitude being interrupted. A stray thought entered her mind.* "Perhaps I should take a swing at him with my knife... But no, there is no reason to provoke an altercation." *She addressed the one addressing* No I do not believe you have. I just arrived. What are you called? *a hint of irritation tinged her voice*

OOC: Your knife? ...Does your character value her kneecaps?
BIC: "You can call me Linx. ...In a manner that doesn't suggest I'm barging in on a meditation session, please." It wasn't his intent to be insolent. That was just his manner of speaking, and if this new arrival had a problem with that, too, he couldn't care less. It wasn't his job to adapt for others.

(OOC) Yes actually she does.
(BIC) *The tone of Linx's voice was not lost on Lore, and she smiled slightly* I apologize, I generally do not sound so... Well, rude I suppose is the correct word. My name is Lore. *Mentally, Lore added Linx to her "list" of ones to keep an eye on. There was something about him. Although they had just met, he struck her as being... Rather insolent, to say the least.*
(OOC) shall I say, an evil grin?

OOC: Linx is nice, don't push that one... Don't pull a knife on him, either, then you may come to regret your ever getting kneecaps in the first place. My turn to have an evil grin.
BIC: "Lore... I'll take care to remember that one. And spell it correctly." This last part just occurred to Linx. There could be a myriad of ways to write her name down and it would be a devastating faux pas to ever do it incorrectly, and that was very possible considering how much he had to write. Come to think of it, he did write a lot considering his main occupation was to kill vermin and his pastime was to design ways to do it more efficiently... Among other things. He tried to keep his mind off Archon so he could have an actual conversation.

It is fairly easy to spell. Just L-o-r-e, and pronounced "Lorae". Yours.... You would spell it "L-i-n-k-s"? *Lore was not familiar with how to spell his name, so she was forced to guess. Although most would not guess it, as she was first and foremost a warrior, she had a love for books that was equal to her passion for nature. But she never mentioned that to anyone. Once she had done that, and it ended rather badly*

"L-i-n-x, actually. Don't ask why, I didn't make it..." If Linx had a choice about his name it would be... Something else. Anything but Linx. It sounded like a homicidal maniac had made it, which was true.

It is a good name. It reminds me of the lynx. In fact, you seem much like a lynx. If that makes sense. *Lore looked down for a second. Of late, it seemed nothing that she said made any sense at all. Her moods changed constantly; one minute she could be relatively content, the next angry. And still later, spouting sentences that were complete nonsense, which now that she had said it, the sentence about the lynx was also nonsense*

"Uh, no, not really." It was just a name, and how a mouse could seem like a lynx was beyond him. He was just a mouse. ...A mouse who designed revolutionary firearms and engaged in intimate relationships with members of the same sex, but a mouse nonetheless. He just had a monosyllabic first name and no apparent last name, none of which was intended to make him seem more like a lynx.

I know. I never make sense when I talk. Perhaps it would be better if I do not talk at all. *Lore fell silent then and said no more. But she wondered in her mind* What is wrong with me these days? I sound so foolish.

"Don't worry, I know what that feels like..." He did know, although it was some time ago. In fact, it was back when things were just starting between him and Archon... No, no reminiscing right now, conversation. Better things to think about for the moment. "I don't mind your talking."

Really? I find that almost amazing. *Here, Lore's voice trailed away as she recalled a scene from her growing up years. She recalled exactly why it was she left her village, and then immediately suppressed that thought. There was no point in bringing up memories that were better off being forgotten* So where did you live before coming here? *she hoped that Linx did not mind the sudden change of subject*

"Family home. I left when people started killing each other. I don't like to talk about it." That pretty much extinguished that particular subject. His family was pretty much insane, with such a big body count you'd be surprised there were that many living in the first place.

Yes, I suppose you would not, at that. I rarely talk of my origins, but this I will say. I came from a small village and I left at the request of the villagers. *She refused to say anymore on that matter, and asked no more questions about Linx, hoping that he would do the same. Her family was rather well-known in the village where she grew up, and they were proud of their reputation as being what they called "educated" and "refined". As a young one, Lore was being trained to take her place in the "society" of the village, but she wanted nothing to do with it. Things progressed downward, with the rift between Lore and her family becoming more and more pronounced, until her family and the other villagers asked her to leave, which she did, although doing so cost her a lot.*
(OOC) Ok that sounded more like a biography, which wasn't what I was intending.....
