OOC: Let's if we can make a mini-plot
BIC: Fishrudder, Sinthin, and a young hare by the name of Rosepaw were out patrolling the river. Sinthin and Rosepaw were on the south side, the fort side, while Fishrudder was on the opposite side. Fishrudder was clad in his leather breastplate, covered with a black tunic and black pants. On his back was his giant two hander, in his paw was his greatbow, and the quiver was on his hip, since his back was used up already. He could see a small raise off to the northeast, the great plateu. Suddenly the horizon quivered, Fishrudder narrowed his eyes, what was that? It quivered again, and again. Fishrudder waded through the river, making sure to keep the bow above the water, though his sheath was ruined, darned wood. When he finally go to the other side he walked over to Sinthin and Rosepaw, he said to them "Something in the far northeast is moving, I have no clue what it is. Hey Rose, run back to the fort, get a few more hares, an otter or two, and maybe a couple of mice. That's a bit of everything. Rosepaw ran off to the fort

*Rosepaw came running back a little while later with four hares, and two mice and otters, one of the mice spoke up when they got there* "Whats going on?"

I figured we would get a group together, so follow me, I will let you know what we are doing as we walk, follow me **Fishrudder headed off towards the north-east, talking as he went.** This may not seem like much, but would rather be safe then sorry. Something in the far north-east moved, couldn't tell you what it was, but it was something, so I figured we should check it out, we shouldn't need food, I have my pack, and so does Sinthin and Rosepaw, so we will put food in those if we need to. Anyone have complaints?

*Dantin glanced at the others that had been quickly gathered from the fort* "I don't think there's anything to complain about sir. This'll be my first patrol since I came to the fort!" *Dantin said excitedly*

Ronin came running up behind the rest of the little group that Rosepaw had brought back. He had just finished washing and getting the vegetables ready for dinner when the haremaid had come galloping into the fort. Deciding is was time to try out his new bolt repeater thingy, the shrew had followed the little group. He had had trouble keeping up because of his shorter legs, but unlike some members of the band, his flanks were not heaving when they reached the point on the river.
The shrew listened quietly as Fishrudder explained. Something? It sounded a bit too vague. something really needs to happen here about regular patrols and scouts. The commanders should know what moved in their territory. If a vermin stronghold could do that, then Otter's Fort really shouldn't be having such a problem. He groaned under his breath as the mouse spoke up.
"Keep your shirt on, young 'un. An' keep you're voice down."
This was going to be a long patrol, he could just feel it.

*Dantin was still excited but a little deflated when he heard a voice called out and told him to calm down, glanced over at where the voice had come from and saw a shrew that he hadn't noticed before. He smiled at the shrew*
"Wasn't planning on taking it off, I'm just happy to finally be able to help, you know. I'm not having to stand gaurd on the walltop like I have been for the past day so I think thats reason enough to be happy! I get your point though, I'll keep it down."

Heh **Fishrudder chuckled and nodded at Ronin, he then aimed a comment at the veteran shrew** Well, we have a cook now, that's not all... Anyway, did you bring another weapon Ronin? You'll need one, you can't always be in the background shooting. **He chuckled, most of the hares had lances and dirks, while the otters had double sided lances and slings, the mice, well, they were just mice, mostly swords though.**

"Will we get to use these repeater things that we got, I haven't had a chance to use it on a live target yet" *Dantin had gotten one earlier that day and had only had a chance to practice fire it at a target, he couldn't wait to get a chance to take a few vermin out with it* "I'ts seems like it'll be really effective against whoever we might run into."

Ronin's scowl at the mouse loosened a little. He'd done wall duty before at a different fort. It had been dull to say the least. He adjusted the strap to his repeater when the commander spoke to him.
"I've got a rapier."
He sniffed slightly. He really did not like the tone of this otter. It was too light...to frivolous for one entrusted with others lives. That being said, Fishrudder was his commanding officer and so he would follow orders while in the field. In the kitchens was a different matter altogether.
"We gonna get goin'?"

OOC: Linx is the depressing one, I am the battle commander he is the, well everything else commander
BIC: Ya, let's go. Ronin, Dantin, Fifan (The other mouse), and the otters stay with me, we are going to go at a moderate pace. Rosepaw, take the hares and go scout, I want to get going. And yes Dantin, I think we will**Rosepaw took her hare's and the ran away, toward's the North-East. Fishrudder's group went along at a fast walk, let's see how long it would take.**

*They started off at the pace set by the commander, it was fast but not exceptionally fast, about how fast Dantin used to walk when he used to travle* "Are there any vermin bands that have been around here recently that could have been what you saw?"

It would have to be a large army, it was near the Great Plateu, out of our direct territory. But I don't want to let them come close if they don't need to come close

Ronin trotted along, keeping up easily enough to the rest. He kept his eyes, ears and nose alert. Out of all those sense, it was more likely that his nose would be the best judge of things. He didn't think there'd be a large army where they were going. There wasn't any campfire smell on the breeze nor was their any sort of dustcloud. However, small vermin bands were quite possible as well as scouting parties.
He moved to a position behind Dantin and Fishrudder, listening as they talked.

*Dantin was suprised at this* You mean we could be going up agains an army with our little band. Wont the odds be a little overwhelming? Mind, I'm not backing down from a fight but I don't think we could handle that, could we?

No way, I am guessin... **Interrupting sentence, a hare bounded over the wall of thorns. Panting breathlessly he said** Vermin sah, not many, enough to bog down the scouts though.
**With that Fishrudder bounded to a sprint, unsheathing a sword and slashing through the thorns he started following the tracks of the bounding hare, which were easy to follow. Eventully the hare caught up, allowing them to move faster.**
