Ellich was alone. He hadnt seen his friends for a while... even with the few he had. Pretty much this was done by his own doing. It was as if Ellich lost all hope of talking and relating to others. He was low on money now... considering he didnt have that giant sack of money that Linx had given to him. There were few customers, and he was close to shutting down the shop. Soon without Linx's help he would end up losing the shop and eventually losing his life. His sanity of corse was already lost to most people... He didnt know what to do. He loved AND hated Linx. He was the beat who had foiled his plans on several occasions by shooting him after all. Ellich wasnt to fond of that. He sat alone throwing his fathers knife over and over into the dirt until he would find a solution.

Linx did expect to find Ellich at the river. For once, he found someone when he was actually looking for them, and walking up to behind the squirrel and seeing the gleam of his blade flying through the air confirmed it for him. It was necessary to talk... For both of them. Something had to be done. "Don't panic. I'm standing right behind you, Ellich. I wouldn't like it if you hit me with that knife there."

Well like or not it was problem solved. He had to talk to Linx some time or another, and right now he was here. Ellich didnt have a choice even if he wanted one. "Oh hey Linx. I wont hit with this." Just to show he wasnt kidding, Ellich had thrown the knife farther away in the exact oposite direction of Linx. "What do you want..." Ellich mumbled this in a quiet manner.

Linx had actually refrained from bringing his CLOS, or any armament, for that matter. If a situation arose in which he would want one, it would be more prudent by far to not give himself a weapon to use. He sat down on the bank next to Ellich, intertwining his fingers in front of his knees to help keep them up. "I haven't been very good lately. What with my running around with a CLOS and acting like you haven't got a shred of freedom to you... What a jerk I've been."

"Wha...what?" Ellich was surprised at what Linx had said. A lot of people wouldnt say that, and you would think Linx would be like that too. Saying that almost was offending, like he was a child. "Uhh... whatever...." Ellich just stared down at the ground. He didnt even look at Linx for the period of time that he was here.

"I'd like to stop being that way now. This can't work if I don't change. I'm not asking anything more of you than you've already given... You have every right to want to reject me right now," Linx added, looking straight ahead into the rushing water. He could slip past you like one of those pieces of driftwood.

"And what would you change to?" Ellich was intrested on how Linx was acting. It really wasnt somthing that you would think he would do. Somthing seemed a lot different about him.

"I wouldn't try to stop you every time you left, for one thing... I mean, look. Right now, I don't even have my CLOS on me, and I take that thing everywhere. I've been doing a lot of thinking and it won't work if I just keep restricting you so much and blaming it all on you. I don't care anymore. You could leave right now and I wouldn't lift a finger to stop you." Linx certainly didn't look like he would, sitting there on the riverbank with his paws connected and his chin just above his knees. "It's not right to do anything else."

Ellich stared at Linx blankly for a moment. "How do I know that.. you are telling the truth... Oh hellgates I cant even trust anyone any more! My life is to messed up now. I just want it to be normal again!" Ellich fell backwards on the ground a lay there yelling at himself.

"Can't trust anyone?... Well... You could start." Linx moved over to Ellich's side, kneeling by the squirrel and looking down to his face. "I trust that you won't get up and leave right now. I trust that you won't actually attack me even if I advance on you, which, by the way, I wouldn't just do. I trust that you have more in you than doubt," he finished, speaking more genuinely to Ellich than he'd remembered doing... Ever.

"Exactly. You can trust me... But... I cant trust you... I just cant anymore for whatever I'm worth. I just cant trust you anymore! Ive tried Linx... I just cant anymore...." Ellich broke down crying on the ground. Tears streamed down his face, but Ellich didnt make a sound at all.

Linx did nothing but continue to kneel by Ellich's side. He wouldn't do a thing the squirrel didn't tell him to do right then. After about ten seconds had passed, he spoke briefly and flatly. "I'll wait."

"You will wait... It doesnt matter.... I dont think I can trust you ever again...." Ellich sat upright again, but tears were still rolling down his face.

"Don't you," Linx murmured. "I don't care if you don't trust me ever again after this. I don't care if you distrust me right up until we're both dead. But please... Please, trust me this once, when I tell you this... I'm not the same mouse I was before."

"If only I could.... that same old mouse caused this for you... I just wont have it...." Ellilch wiped tears from his eyes and for the first time since Linx had came, he actually looked at him.
