"Uh there's a shallow part over there." Ellich pointed to a spot to the left of him a bit. You would be able to stand there. Ellich then heard someone coming. It seemed like someone was running to the river.

Dengoro, too busy with the water, heard nothing. He moved to the left as Ellich advised, unaware of any noise. There didn't seem to be a place he could stand on, though.

The noise seemed to get loader, but Ellich ignored it because he was watching Dengoro. "Right here." Ellich swam over to the spot he described, then stood.

Dengoro followed, scrambled about with his footpaws for a few seconds and then eventually found a stable foothold he could stand on. His ears perked up as he heard something behind them. "What's that?"

"Hmm dont know. Sounds like someone is running this way." Ellich looked around, but didnt see anyone at the moment. "Thats weird... see anyone?"

Dengoro turned around and looked at the bank. There wasn't a beast in sight, nor anything for a beast to hide behind. "Uh... No... Nobody's out here except us. And that trade ship in dock."

Ellich still heard footsteps, and the people coming off the tradeship werent running like what he heard. Then the running stopped. "Thats really odd." Ellich heard a whirling sound in the sky followed by two more. Ellich looked up to see what that second noise was.

Dengoro looked up, but too late to see anything. "No, I don't... I don't see anything... What was that, anyway?" There wasn't much of a reason to be worried about vermin this close to the fort, but he couldn't help but feel concerned.

"I dont know... " Ellich looked to the left then saw a huge fireball of flames burst on the tradeship. "Oh Hellgates! Duck!" Ellich swam under the water as peices of wood came from the ship, all flying extremly fast. Obviously the ship was carrying some sort of flamable liquid upon it.

Dengoro's first impulse was to swim away. He ended up just falling under the water, which was a good idea because flaming wood was landing everywhere. It looked like a barrel had exploded on the main deck... Thankfully not the hold; that would sink the ship.

Ellich rose back upon the water. "Woah!" He looked at the burning ship while looking to see where Dengoro was. "Dengoro?" Ellich couldnt find him.

Dengoro pulled himself up from underwater. It looked like a barrel of something really alcoholic had been ignited on the main deck; the ship was far from torn apart, none of the masts had collapsed, but the main deck was ablaze and a bunch of beasts were running around and screaming. Hopefully some of them knew how to handle alcohol fires... Dengoro didn't. "Ellich?... Ellich!"

Ellich blacked out for a second. Where was that skunk? He looked around more but couldnt find him. His head hurt really bad, and he didnt know why. The burning ship was off in the distance some way, but Ellich was really far away from where he was before. "What just happened... Dengoro! Where are you?!?!" Ellich sat in the water hearing no responce. Now he looked around for the skunk still wondering what happened. "Huh must have hit my head. The fire seemed almost out now on the ship, and judging by what Ellich remembered, it was much darker now.

Dengoro could hear a voice from the other side of the hulking ship. Accurately assuming it belonged to Ellich, he swam at an angle to the current, in order to evade the gigantic cedar wall blocking his path. Once it was out of the way, he could see the squirrel drifting through the water, very slowly, approaching the estuary.

"Wha... Dengoro!" Ellich spotted the skunk who was swimming his way. Ellich didnt move, and the current was slowly taking him away, but he still managed to make a sigh of relief as he floated downstream.
