After being questioned by the two otter gaurds, Laggerung, an otter with his fur soaked from the rain, looked around at the village's houses. "I wonder if there's a place I could stay at for the night?" questiond Laggerung in his mind. He looked at the lit houses around him, and coughed slightly. "I think I'm getting a cold..." thought Laggerung dreadfully. He walked up to a nearby house with it's lights on, and knocked on the metal door. "If someone is in, could you please open the door?" asked Laggerung, hoping that anyone inside heard his voice and the knock over the rain.

Linx's house was more of a miniature fortress than an actual house. The steel-plated, five-layered oaken door had cost a fortune to make and, with two locks and reinforced hinges on the inside, was more secure than most prison gates. He typically locked only one during the day, locking the specially designed cylinder-based lock for while he slept. Of course, he wasn't actually asleep at this late spring evening... Just getting ready. He unlocked and opened the door dressed in only a black bathrobe, which, typical to a mouse like himself, had a palm dagger tucked into an internal pocket.
The sight that met him was anything but expected. It wasn't often that random otters just knocked on his door. Taken aback slightly, he took a moment to speak, holding the door open with one paw that refused to move off of it. He stared at Laggerung for a few long seconds before opening his mouth, and even then, communication was a bit hampered. "Er... Can I help you?"

Laggerung was taken aback a little to see a mouse open the door, but he finally collected his thoughts. "I'm sorry about this, but is it possible if I could stay the night?" asked Laggerung. "I'm new to this place, and I didn't know of a place to stay the night at. But of course, I don't have to, I can alway find another place to stay at." explained Laggerung, his ears dripping rain at the points of them. He turned his head and gave a sneeze.

"Well, that sounds all right with me... You can take one of the couches, I don't want to get a cold from you right now, sorry." Linx gestured for Laggerung to enter. When it came to letting strangers that had already been approved for village entry into his house, the mouse was shockingly hospitable... And platonically so, as well. It helped keep beasts alive, after all, and this one looked like he wouldn't even be able to survive the night. You do this too much.
He gestured to the room's spacious interior, beckoning for the otter to enter. "Come on in, uh... Do you want to get out of those clothes? They look kinda soaked, and even if it weren't a major health hazard and you didn't want your clothes to air out, I don't want wet upholstery."

Laggerung walked into the spacious house. He took note of his surroundings, and located the couch that Linx pointed out. "I guess it wouldn't hurt to to change clothes, that is if you have a spare that's big enough." said Laggerung. "And I guess I should give my name, it's Laggerung."

"Nice to meet you, Laggerung... I'm Linx Exotic, and this is my huge house. I'm sure there's a set of clothing that fits you... Maybe a little big. What, you think I'm any smaller than you are?" Not that mice were significantly smaller than otters* to start, but Linx was such a stout, muscular mouse that his clothing was big enough, if not too big, for most everyone else in the house. "...You can take that couch, or one of the two other ones, I don't care which, we have so much stuff anyway... That's what being a rich officer magnate gets you. And I don't care if you keep the clothes, just ask."

"Ok thanks, Linx, for the hopitality." said Laggerung graciously. He took another look around the house. "Um, where did you say I could find the clothes?" asked Laggerung, wanting to make sure where it was.

"I didn't. I'll get you a change from upsairs... I recommend you don't go up there, the guys don't know we have company yet. I'll let 'em know in a second. Just... Get out of those before you catch hypothermia!" Linx gave a brief nod to Laggerung and headed upstairs. Obviously, he either didn't expect or was prepared to disregard any question about 'the guys', or any protest of stripping in the middle of the living room. In that house, though, things like that didn't really matter to anyone.

As Laggerung waited for Linx to get back with the clothes, he looked at the different stuff in the house. "Linx must be rich to have all this stuff..." said Lagg quietly to himself. He particularly noted the structure of the building.

Indeed Linx was. He was, in fact, the richest single beast in the entire fort, with thousands of coins accessible at various locations. He promptly returned to the living room with arms full of jet black clothing. "Here, take these," he sighed as he reached the bottom of the stiars. "They'll do for the night... I made it clear with the guys that there's to be no bothering you, so you... Don't have anything to... Are you ever gonna take those off?" Seriously... What is this, modesty?

"Thanks, Linx." said Lagg as he took the clothes from the mouse. "I'll be back." And with that, Lagg walked off to a room where he could change in privacy. He came out in his sleep clothes. "These are really comfortable. What do you want me to do with my tunic?" asked Lagg, for the clothes were dripping less than before.

"Uh, just hang it up on one of those pegs in the wall by the door... Do you want me to go get a pillow and some sheets and stuff, make the couch a bit more, you know, bed-like?" Linx pointed to the couch he'd originally seen Laggerung looking at. He did his best to try and ignore how completely provocative this otter looked in sleep wear. No, he's just a stranger. He's just spending the night. You're gonna go up there and sleep. ...This is a joke.

"Sure!" said Lagg. He walked up to the peg and put his tunic on there. He grabbed his dirk, like he would normally do in the woods. "It's a case of habit, ya know. Can't sleep without it!" chuckled Lagg.

"What is it with beasts and knives?" Linx drew his palm dagger out from the folds of his robe, stared at it for a few seconds and then tucked it back, grinning at Lagg cockily. He always had a weapon handy if he had a shred of clothing to hide it in. Sometimes even when he didn't have a shred, but that was usually unnecessary. "Oh, that's what."

Laggerung went to the couch and sat on it. "Man, this is a pretty comfortable couch!" said Lagg. He yawned after a few seconds. "I'm tired! Do you have that pillow close by? I'll just take that!" said Lagg.
