Siohen didn't hesitate to bound into the barracks, heading straight for the stairs now that she knew that her room was on the second floor. What she didn't know was which door it was, but Kade could help there, hopefully. Otherwise, she'd probably have some problems trying to find her room. Does it have a key? I forget. It might. I dunno. Kade will help, I think.

*Kade, who still had the key to Siohen's room, followed after her. She seemed to have... grown a bit happier upon making it to the barracks. Even if he didn't still have the key, though, he doubted she'd be able to find the room. Also, even if he wasn't helping her, which he was, he would still have to be going in the same direction so as to get to his room. In any case, there were both heading up the stairs at this point.*

Upon ascending the stairs, Siohen headed down the hallway briskly, not stopping at any doors. She inferred that Kade would tell her if she overshot her room's door, but it didn't matter much because she didn't know it anyway. Walking carefully wouldn't do much good in this situation, since the mouse had absolutely no idea which door it was.

*Kade called after her as she sped down the hallway.* "You overshot your room about four doors ago, just so you know." *He said with a good natured laugh, he was about two doors from reaching it so by the time he reached it and opened it for her, she would be there to enter it unless she just fell down or something dramatic like that which, for some reason, he wouldn't have been surprised if that did indeed happen.*

Stopping abruptly, she turned and backtracked until she reached the door that was apparently the correct one. Entering cautiously, the first thing Siohen did was remove Kade's coat, tired of the weight it put on her back, and place it neatly on her bed. The second thing was to open up the drawer with the parchment in it, and get to work with fishing out what she'd need to communicate.

*It seemed that Siohen was wanting to converse with him for she was currently pulling out the items that she needed so that she could converse with him. Since this was so, he didn't leave but stood in the doorway, waiting. He didn't know if she was planning on having a longer conversation or just to say thanks and goodbye, hence him not shutting the door.*

Once the quill was in her paw, it took little time for her to write what little she wanted to say. Scribbling in her usual unkempt font, the mouse wrote down just one sentence and presented the parchment to Kade without actually handing it over. Siohen's message was very plain and to the point. It read, Do you have to go anywhere?

*Kade shook his head, giving a negatory.* "Nah, I was on the night shift wall duty so I'm off for the day." *-I guess that means that she's gonna want a longer talk then.- He thought to himself, though not in unhappiness. They'd finally be able to converse in a way that wasn't painfull for the both of them.*

Closing the door finally, Siohen felt the first shred of comfort she'd had since being banished the week before. She placed the parchment back on the end table and hunched over it, writing down a bit more of a detailed statement before handing it over to the older mouse. I came here from a southern warrior village that banished me just over a week ago. It's a long story, but that explains my not knowing what a fork is, right? It was isolated there.

*Kade nodded, giving an obviously obvious positive.* "Yeah, that would definitely explain it. When me and Dantin were traveling around, we ran into some villages like that. It was pretty funny to find one or two that had never seen mice before." *He said with a laugh. Those times had been quite entertaining, though they hadn't lasted for any length of time. Three days at the max.*

She carefully took the parchment back and wrote her third message on it. It was getting easier for Siohen to write with the quill, although she was going through ink at an alarming rate. Instead of putting it in his paws, she just moved to let him read the text this time. It didn't take long for her to finish this one. Who's Dantin?

"Oh, I forgot you don't know who he is..." *Kade said, rubbing the back of his head in a bit of an embarrassed way.* "Dantins another mouse here at the fort and my best friend, I actually room with him, in fact. He's a sergeant in the army so that means he's also a commanding officer to both of us." *That was still a bit of a strange thought to Kade because they hadn't ever really had a rank difference before and when they traveled, there was no rank. He'd get used to it eventually, he supposed.*

For a few seconds, Siohen just looked at Kade. That was something she didn't expect. Her previous thoughts about this Dantin character were more along the lines of a friend, possibly more her age, who had some sort of military connection, but not an officer. She immediately set to work writing another message, this time very quickly. You room with your commanding officer?

"Well..." *Kade started,* "He wasn't my commanding officer untill just recently. Up untill then we'd been the same rank and, as I said, he's my best friend. The same goes for him with me. By the way, just because he's an officer doesn't mean he's old. He's the same age as me." *Not that she knew how old Kade was either but he didn't think about that. It did sound a bit strange that he would room with his commanding officer but, a he had said, Dantin hadn't always been his commanding officer.*

The next message that Siohen wrote was rather long compared to the previous ones. She felt rather self-conscious taking so long to write, but it was far better than stuttering through a verbal conversation. The amount of text she'd written could take ten minutes to read. Well, that's an odd setup. This place must have a pretty casual military for someone to sleep in the same room as their commanding officer every night.
