*Kade had to laugh at that one.* "No, the military here is far from casual and the officers usually have a room to themselves. Dantin picked the room placement himself. I don't mean to say that even if the military isn't casual, that doesn't mean that officers can't be friendly. Heck, the first time you meet Dantin he probably wont even bring up the fact that he's a sergeant. Stuff like that is only needed on duty."

Nodding slowly, Siohen didn't bother saying anything in response. She didn't have anything further to say to Kade that would necessitate a quill. After stopping the ink bottle, the mouse turned to Kade and let the emotional wall she'd been holding together this whole time finally disintegrate. She seemingly spontaneously took him in an iron but well-meaning hug, biting her lip hard as tears welled up as if they'd been waiting to do it that whole time. There was just too much emotion to contend with.

*To tell the truth, a hug had been the last thing Kade had been expecting. He thought she might have another question or perhaps want him to leave so that she could get some sleep. He didn't move for a few seconds as he tried to figure out what to do. After those few seconds, he returned the hug. It seemed that Siohen was emotionally unstable right now.* "Hey, hey, it's all right." *He said gently.* "Everythings gonna be ok while your here." *This had also been said softly. He could tell she was on the verge of tears and figured that it had everything to do with what she'd gone through with being kicked out of her old village.*

Unwilling to verbally respond for obvious reasons, Siohen let out a ragged breath as tears began to course down her face unchecked. Her parents were, for all intents and purposes, dead in her life, and there was no chance she'd see any of her fellow village members unless they too got exiled and went all the way up here for some reason. That wasn't going to happen, as far as she could tell, so the mouse was left sobbing and clutching Kade's body like it was all she had left, which wasn't far from the truth.

*There where no words that Kade could come up with that would be good enough so he just kept silent, keeping her in the embrace though it was more the other way around seeing as how she was about to squeeze the life out of him. At least, that's how it seemed to Kade. He just hoped that in the end she'd be alright. Kade was the kind of beast that could meet somebeast one day and on the same day care the world about them as if they'd been friends for a long time.*

Eventually, Siohen released her embrace and looked at Kade with her somewhat bloodshot eyes, not knowing what to say or do but feeling such a mixed amalgam of emotions that she was ready to do just about anything. Her impulses told her to do a whole number of things, including resuming the hug, running out of the room and breaking things. However, none of these happened. She wanted to speak but her mind wouldn't let her. All I have is... Myself... I don't have anything left...

*Kade just looked at her for a second, noting the partially bloodshot eyes and her undecidedness on what she should do. He put a paw on her shoulder and and lead her over to the bed so that she could sit down.* "C'mon, take a seat, you look like you could use it." *He said softly. He didn't really know what to say that would quite fit the situation. If he just asked her if she was ok, that would just be stupid seeing as how she'd been crying and everything just seconds before.*

Sitting down on the soft mattress with clear hesitation, Siohen sighed and lay back on her back to stare up at the ceiling. There was nothing to do from here. Her life as she knew it was over and now she'd conscripted herself into a foreign army with nothing but a sympathetic mouse to help her cope. The urge to end her own life surfaced for a moment, as did the accompanying horror, and she visibly shuddered.

*Kade quietly sat down on the bed beside Siohen, with his head turned so that he could look at her as well. He didn't know what to do but figured that leaving would be a bad idea at the moment, as would saying something because all would be was still something stupid like asking if she was ok, which she obviously wasn't. He didn't know what could possibly be going through her mind but the fact that she actually shuddered at one of her thoughts wasn't exactly a good sign. He just hoped she would snap out of it soon.*

There was no immediate way for Siohen to communicate with Kade. Her stuttering would overpower anything she tried to say, and there was no way to access her parchment from where she was. Chances were that she wouldn't be able to write that well in her current condition anyway. Leaning up a bit, she hugged Kade again, this time around the abdomen, clinging to what was more or less all she had to live for.

*Kade this time had more or less been expecting another hug. He had to use the paw that was oppisite Siohen to hold him up because she was leaning much of her weight against him. With his other paw there was no real way to return the hug because of the angle from which she was giving the hug so he merely ran his paw up and down her arms in a comforting way. That was all he knew to do.*

"K... K-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-Kade," she managed to get out relatively quickly, her tears having subsided in place of a rather hazy feeling of bonding. Siohen's feelings towards Kade, influenced by previously suppressed hormones, traumatic experiences and his caring attitude, made for a seemingly inexplicable feeling of attraction that she was too shaken to act on. Nothing that was going on felt real to her anymore. It was getting a bit surreal, in fact.

He didn't say anything more, saying anything more would probably prove to be disastrous because it would be the wrong thing to say. Besides, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to interupt her because she was most likely about to start speaking and that, also, would prove disastrous. He just waited for her to continue, still rubbing her arm in a comforting manner.*

"C-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-c-can I b-b-b-b-be al-l-l-l-lone now?" That was all she could get out. Abrupt as it sounded, she needed time to think things over and perhaps get a grip on her new situation. Relaxing her grip around Kade's abdomen, Siohen leaned back onto the bed and sighed in dismay. This was all too much. What she really needed was time, and that meant Kade, unfortunately, had to go.

"Yeah, sure." *Kade said gently. He had figured that something like that might have been in the near future. She just needed time to think things over and get a hold of herself, which wasn't too surprising based on what she'd gone through. Kade stood up, left the key to her room on the nightstand beside her bed and walked out of the room with a final glance behind him at Siohen. He quietly shut the door behind him and went off to his own room for some badly needed sleep.* ****Thread end, I suppose.**** |
