She listened attentively and decided it would be best to space out the questions she wanted to ask. "Unarmed combat, paw fighting, right?" she asked, frowning a little. That was pretty new, she had seen hares use boxing and hedgehogs Spiketussle and knew some moves, but not enough to hold her own against a experienced beast.

"That's correct. If you can't do that, and you're ever without a weapon in your paws when you're on the field which is actually pretty likely if you're going anywhere, you're gone. That's something you have to know, I think they do unarmed before any actual weapon courses." Linx hadn't taken actual fort-run training after the new bolt repeater's advent. He just didn't know the finer points, although his talks with other officers gave him some idea.

"Oh, I understand the full need av it. I'd love to learn better ways to defend myself, it's useful.' she agreed, relaxing slightly. "And formations, d'ye mean strategy, or military forms?" she asked, wanting to learn as much as she could.

"I mean marching. We seldom do it but it's just something you have to know for when we go outside the walls... Not just in block formation, either. Eventually, you'll be able to assume an outwards-facing circle, reinforced square, line formation, staggered line formation, wedge or a few other formations I can't remember right now, in less than a minute. It's pretty impressive when you just watch it." Linx enjoyed observing formation practice within the walls as he did his running along the ramparts of the inner walls. It was an intriguing distraction and gave him an idea of what training was like these days.

"I've seen a few, from the Long Patrol, it is impressive." she agreed, nodding, as she looked over the weapons. "How long is training over all?" she asked, looking to the mouse once more.

"Basic training lasts about four months. You can take tests to skip parts of it, and a typical experienced warrior will be able to get it down to... Two, maybe. Even if you excel in one sector, you have all the others to work on anyway, and you may end up having times where you have a week of training, then partial training, then no training, then another week of normal training. It can get weird that way." It was often easier to just do all the courses as far as schedule work, but if anyone thought they could skip anything, there was no stopping them. This was constant.

"Sounds fine with me, I'll do the training as normal for the most part and see if I can shorten the others." she commented. Skye was eager to go on and start training, it was always better to have something to do.

"Well... I think we've spent enough time in here, don't you?" Linx started putting out the torches with a glass... Thing. "Back to the barracks, I need to sign you up for a room. All of the first and second floor ones are full right now, actually, so you'll be getting one of the new rooms that's part of the attic finishing project. ...Not as bad as it sounds, I promise." He'd observed the workers redoing the roof and was sure that it wouldn't be leaking on anyone, especially not Skye.

She nodded "I was given a temporary spot te sleep in a common room. Do..I have to sleep in the barracks?" she asked, looking at him as they left the armoury "I'm to used to resting outside honestly." she commented.

"You get a room in it, specifically to store your things, but there's no rule saying you have to sleep inside. So long as you show up for training on time... Heh, maybe you can sleep in the training grounds." After finishing putting all the torches out and escorting Skye out of the darkened room, Linx swung the heavy door shut and locked it slowly, listening to the solid steel latch sliding into place. "Don't show up dirty, either, they hate that..."

"I probably will, if there's enough space." she mused, being completely serious. She followed him out, waiting for him to lock the door. She gave another nod "I'll do my best te be on time, and clean, it's just simple courtesy." she replied.

Linx finished and put his keys away, turning to Skye with the most businesslike expression he'd had all day. "It's also because of what they do when you don't show up on time, well-kept and... I think they're... Yeah, there's a training uniform, or at least a dress code that's so strict it's like a uniform anyway. I don't even remember. Let's just get up to your room."

She gave a shrug and nodded "That's fine, I'll follow the codes they give." she replied, honestly not bothered. The way for a fort to run properly was for things to be organized, so everyone had to be on the same page. She smiled a little "Lead on, Linx." she commented, letting him go ahead.

Linx led Skye up to the barracks doors and pushed them open. He disappeared into a locked side room for what seemed to be a few hours, then returned. "Sorry about that... Had to sign you up for a room, that means writing in the name and room number of the recruit, you're getting 312... 12th room, 3rd floor. It's, unfortunately enough, one of the longest walks in the building..."

Skye waited quietly, pacing after a few moments before stretching lightly and turning to face him. "That's alright, and the walk's fine, thanks again." she stated, seeming to be a beast that was not easily affected by trivial matters.
