"OK, let's go." With that, Linx headed up the stairway that rudely extended into the middle of the room that took him up to the second floor. They'd have to go all the way down the hallway and up a set of semicircular spiral-type stairs to the third floor, then all the way back to the front in order to reach her room. "C'mon, if you can't keep up, you'll wash out in three minutes!"

Skye nodded and started to jog alongside him, keeping up after a bit of confusion of the twist in the hall. She moved on the stairs, breathing lightly and moved to his side again "I've done worse then this." she stated quietly, moving along.

The twist told them that they were already on the third floor and more than halfway through. It was near the end of the hallway that they finally reached Skye's new room. Linx pulled out its key, gesturing to her to show whose it was going to be from now on, and opened the plain wooden door to reveal an austere but dry and well-kept room with a semi-loft bed against the side wall, a small dresser, a wardrobe in the corner and a skylight which appeared concave from inside the room and filled the bare wooden furnishings and utilitarian white sheets with ethereal moonlight. "This is your room now. You can put things in it."

Skye slowed down, quite enthused about the run as she watched Linx open the door. Walking in, she looked around, slightly surprised. "Wow, nice." she commented, placing her haversack on the bed. She turned to him, expression oddly uneasy "I havenae slept in a place like this in seasons." she commented.

"Well, that's really sad," Linx murmured. It was such a small room, too. "I live in a house many times the size of this, of course, I'm the rich guy... But... Feel free to unpack your things." The mouse flicked the key onto the bed's clean surface. "I'll come here tomorrow morning to talk to you about your training schedule, so stay where I can find you. Do you want me to give you a little privacy now?"

She chuckled and shrugged "I've got a good amount av seasons travelling, seen the sea and other wonders. It's been a enjoyable enough life so far." she replied, with a faint smile. She picked up the key and nodded 'I'll stay here and try to get some sleep. Just knock when ye come by." she replied, clearly wanting a bit of time alone.

"Well, then. I bid you good night, Skye... Soon to be Private Skye, eh?" That would come in time. Linx stepped back into the hallway. He would have shut the door then, but since it opened inwards, he couldn't reach it. He just stood and waited instead.

She smiled faintly and stepped after him, placing a paw on the door "Let's hope. Good night Linx." she replied and closed the door softly. The mouse went to unpack her haversack, keeping her weapons near as she went to sleep. Early morning came and Skye awoke, having a good night's sleep for once. Standing she dressed in a loose shirt and trousers, buckling her sword to her belt, before looking out to the fort, enjoying the silence of dawn.

Linx showed up in what appeared to be a slightly more warlike version of what he'd had the day before. He was wearing a different coat, this one having loops riveted in for whatever weapons he needed to put on either the outside or inside. His boots appeared to have pointed steel toe caps now, his pants were the same but had a few more weapons hanging from them, his shirt had a number of straps going across it which held his CLOS in its shoulder holster, and there was a bolt repeater on his back. He knocked lightly on the door, not wanting to damage it with the diamond spikes on his knuckles. "Hey, uh, Skye? You in there?"

The door opened and Skye faced him, clean, dressed and headfur tousled. She gave a faint smile, and took in his more militaristic appearance, faintly impressed "Hullo. Did ye sleep well?" she asked, stepping out and closing the door behind her.

"Maybe I'll throw you out that skylight for not fixing up anything above your eyes," Linx didn't actually answer the question. It was a non-answer for a non-question. Did he sleep well? Of all the polite things to say, that wasn't one that struck the mouse as one his soldiers should have been asking. "I was going to head in there, but you shut the door... Whatever, it's unlocked. The point is, you're not starting training today. Not until Wednesday, that's when the next wave of recruits is being accepted. In the meantime, I suggest you start practicing."

She blinked, self conciously rubbing a paw along her headfur, looking away "I don't have a comb." she replied simply, shrugging. Opening the door once more, she gestured for him to enter and smiled faintly "Av course, the practice fields are open, I hope?" she asked.

"They're never actually closed... You can see them from here, the roof is steep enough, part of them, anyway. The training grounds are right next to the barracks so it's not as if you'll have to go anywhere you can't actually find." Linx stepped into the room and glanced out the window, running his index along his left glove's middle spike. Needs some honing. "...Combs are cheap..."

Skye shrugged, looking out the windows to note the location of the grounds "I'll start training as soon as possible." she replied, and gave a faint smile. "I don't have a lot of money, and combs weren't really practical things to trade for, when weapons and rations were more important." she commented.

"Expect things like that to change... I think there's a bunch of stuff like that, comb included, in your top dresser drawer, anyway." His donations had pretty much given the expansion project too much funding, if such a thing were even possible. Linx turned back to Skye, eager to just talk. He could never keep his subordinates subordinate, which was probably why he refused any troop command in battle situations. "How much money do you have, if you don't mind my asking?"
