"Oh..I didnae really look." she stated, and opened the drawer, indeed finding a comb, brush and other such items, looking them over appreciatively. Turning to Linx once more, after getting her headfur into a semblance of order, she plucked a small pouch from her belt. "Just about 30 gold coins." she commented, shrugging.

"Just 30... Wow. That's not so good," Linx replied with a slight frown. "Well, you get eight weekly while undergoing training, then twenty once you're done. Which is actually a lot better then it might sound, since your room here isn't taxed or anything." There would be no reason for the fort to tax itself. Linx couldn't help but chuckle at the idea.

She smiled faintly and shrugged "I've gotten by so far. But any extra gold would be av great help." she admitted.

"Oh, and there's free food downstairs... If you can call it that." The barracks food had been often deemed inedible. Linx had been planning to revise that for some time, but some pressing project made it impossible to scrape up enough public funding to do the job. It wasn't his, anyway.

Her blue grey eyes lit up slightly "Food? Why didnae ye say so?" she asked, quite hungry now. She moved to the door, and paused "Would ye mind eating with me, or will ye be busy?" she asked, not minding the company, but not wanting to be a nuisance at the same time.

"Oh, no. No you don't. I am not putting you in the mess hall, the food there is just... No. I'll pay to get you a bite to eat at the tavern, how about that?" It was more a simple gesture on Linx's part than anything else. It wasn't like he couldn't afford it, even if Skye couldn't do so regularly. "Some nice breakfast there would be fantastic."

She looked surprised and smiled at him, oddly touched. "Erm...thank ye.." she stated, awkwardly, giving a nod. "I'd like that honestly, and it seems as if I owe te as well." she offered, either with a gold or a favour, but she would pay him back in time.

"Don't worry about it, I help beasts out all the time... Just by joining the fort, you've helped me." Not really, but Linx didn't want her to think she was obliged to do him a favor or something. He gestured to the door now, ready to get going and get some food. "What do you say we go?"

"I still owe you." she stated stubbornly. She nodded and headed out, ready to go downstairs and get something to eat.

"So be it..." It wasn't long before they were descending the lobby stairway. Linx pointed to the village gate through the open doors. "Out through there... And we'll be at the tavern soon enough."

Following him downstairs, the mousemaid stopped as she spotted the village gate, heading in that direction. "I bet the tavern gets alot av business?" she asked, walking alongside Linx now.

"It's trounced all competition," Linx replied as they exited the doors of the barracks and started on the paved path to the gate. "I heard they might be adding a second floor sometime... In the long term, that's not happening tomorrow, you realize. They'd have to close it down and everything, and that would let competing locations take the lead in the meantime." Linx still had his business mind about him, even when all was military. It looked odd, seeing a mouse dressed like that and talking about a tavern closing.

Skye blinked, looking interested as she kept her eyes on the buildings around her. The fort seemed, crowded somehow. Used to forests, beaches and fields, a place like this was so alien. "That seems fair at least, the other places have more av a chance for business." she pointed out.

"The only problem I can think of is, nobody will want to restart their businesses because once "The Tavern" comes back, it'll wipe them out. As a result, we're just not gonna have a tavern for a while." Linx headed out the gates and waved to the sentry on the way into the village's depths. He couldn't help but point out his large, two-story, fortified residence as they passed it. "That's my house there..."

She thought of other beasts, consumed by alcohal and shrugged "Maybe that won't be such a bad thing." she commented, looking up at the sentry and nodded at them, as she stopped a moment, staring at his home in awe. "And I thought my room was impressive." she stated.
